So being in the aerial photography business, when the DJI announced their new product - the Pocket Osmo (Amazon Link here) - I decided to go ahead and order one to see if it would be useful based on the intial reviews. I'm thinking I'll use this thread to share some videos and opinions as they develop. Right now I think it's definitely going to have a place and I'll be carrying it a LOT, but there are some issues, too.

I'm most looking forward to the wireless module arriving and finding the right mount. When that happens it will be interesting to see if I can get the camera to operate with the gimbal and be able to pan around the cockpit, or look at different angles in flight.

Looks impressive. Is this meant to compete with the GoPro?
 
That's a hellova gizmo! Looks like I'll be skimping on my annual again, or leaving a few gallons in the fuel truck for a little bit.

Serious question. Did you use an ND filter for the "Dusk video?" Or was it dark enough you didn't need it? I'm looking for a solution just like this to get rid of the Neistat-esque contraption I'm using now. And, is there a 1/4-20 hole on the buttstock?

DJI has left a number of us rather un-impressed with the rollout and how ready the device was. The ND filters are supposed to be coming out, but aren't shipping yet, and neither are any of the accessories. I've got them on order but nothing in hand. No, this device is pretty small and there's no hole for a tripod mount. I think they made it as small as they could and are banking on making money off the accessories.

The video was shot stock - not even using my phone to direct it, so I'm pretty pleased with most of the quality features, but the thing still needs a firmware update on the focus issues. You can see the focus problem better in this video from 7500' - it should have been an easy "infinity" focus decision for the camera... especially when the camera knew pretty well exactly it was supposed to be looking. The active track feature worked great.
