Should I alert the FAA about my so called friend?

Already been said but I'll say it again. If you believe this pilot is a danger to others then report it. If not mind your own business.

What did he lie about and how do you know about it? How are you 100% sure what you think you know?

^This. We enjoy an activity with very little oversight. If we don't address legitimate safety concerns, eventually it will catch up to us.

Same thing with SWATing someone right?

James, I usually agree with your anti-big brother rants (diatribes? harangues? remonstrances? :D ), but reporting someone that's violating the law and perhaps endangering others isn't even close to swatting someone.

Granted, I have no idea what the OP knows or thinks he knows. I can't intelligently comment on the subject without that information.

I'm just trying to keep your wings level. :D

For sure

My only point was he need to own it if he’s going to do it.

you really don't like "us".....just say so.

Not at all...but someone drops a bomb in, then disappears while the dust is stirred up and never comes back to provide more situation. Vague description + single posts looks like a troll.

I am less impressed with this place lately, but that has more to do with self-censoring what I want to write about because it won't be acceptable.

who is us?....o_O
"Us" is people who fly little airplanes under part 91.

There's a whole lot less oversight flying them as opposed to driving cars. Most people will be asked for their "license and registration" many many more times than they'll ever exchange words with an 1825 for the FAA.

relax....don't be so angry. ;)

I feel the same way about the two forums I actively participate in.

Seems like over the pst six months, both have had an influx of new members with little to contribute, or in some cases, too much to contribute.

Not really considering I was commenting on a post that someone made.

And though I haven’t been here as long as you, I’ll be sure to consider your opinion before I ever post again.

Stop calling him a friend.

Obviously, he told u this information in a moment of trust unless you dug thru his personal stuff and found it.

One thing I've learned about these disclaimers that start a statement is they mean the exact opposite. I don't mean to borrow money means I'm about to ask you to borrow money; I don't mean to spread gossip means I intend to spread gossip.

It's not perjury. This is not testimony. It may be a misrepresentation that the FAA may initiate actions on his certificate(s), but perjury requires an oath or affirmation that signing your MEDEXPRESS is not.

im no rat, but he lied on his medical to obtain a 3rd class and now just does basic med since he perjured himself.

What should I do?
If he has a potentially dangerous condition - cardiac, psychiatric, etc. - at could endanger the lives of his unknowing passengers I'd report him with a smile on my face. It's because of people like this that we have increasing regulation, not to mention insurance rates. If he didn't report his toe surgery, who cares.

Lying on your medical application is a felony.

Yep, making false statements to a federal agency is criminal, but it still isn't perjury. It's rare the FAA goes that route except in the case of those acting in commercial operations. It's a lot of effort. Yanking all the pilot's certificates is a lot easier and only takes the usual FAA SHAM of an enforcement action.

Since Facebook was widely accepted, people don't know how to mind their own business. They also don't understand they should read the whole story before commenting.

My friend posted some really cool photos of a fire he took from a drone. Nobody read what he said, they just jumped on him. "I think it is a big No-No to bust out a drone while emergency services like firefighters are out and about trying to do their work." "What happens when the HEMS can't get in to help the occupants?" "I'm aware of at least one instance where a UAS hindered a helicopter landing to assist with a burn victim that was extracted from a local fire." And there were plenty of other negative comments, most deleted now.

If they had only read what he said when posting the photos: My next door neighbor is the captain of the FD. He called me and woke me up asking to come shoot footage for the VFD. House was fully engulfed w/ 40' flames above roof when my neighbor (Captain) got the call and looked out the front of his house down the street to see. I was in constant communication with him as he was commanding officer over the incident.
