KJVL 2/2/08 - Midwest Get-together

I'll be there, but I'm not taking a cold-soaked plane into marginal VFR and snow. I did that to Morris and lost the whole weekend.

I'll drive.

I may do the same thing if ceilings continue to look low for Saturday AM.

My plane is still down. I need a new alternator and the new one is being ordered. If it is available I will be able to fly. If not can I get a ride from someone? 3CK would be the closest pick up point.

PM me an address and I can pick you up in the car. You're on the route anyway.

I will be coming with Matt Sawhill. No student for me, unless Matt counts.

If it gets put off until Sunday, I might be able to go. It is pretty snowy hear at Aurora today.

It is doubtful the taxiways will be clear at my airport by Saturday morning (at least in front of my hangar), however, I'm planning on flying to KJVL Sunday morning arriving at 9:00.

I'll still try to make it Saturday if I can get my plane out and the weather is VFR, but neither looks good at the moment.

The latest forecasts are still showing snow and low clouds. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Not looking so good unless you want to scud run or have FIKI certification.
I'll check my planes' availabilities for Sunday.

For me: Tomorrow is highly unlikely due to weather, Sunday is impossible due to my multiengine checkride. :( As much as I would like to meet up with POA-ers, I have to take advantage of our one good weather day per month to get that rating!

if you like usairnet you'll really like http://www.nws.noaa.gov/mdl/forecast/graphics/MET/ which is where the usairnet info comes from, but lays it out on a national level instead of just one station at a time.

Im hoping that the ETA forecasts are right for tomorrow morning and not the GFS. Sunday for me will depend entirely on if Matt wants to go.

Ok my plane is definitely not available this weekend. I am good either Saturday or Sunday if I can catch a ride. I can be picked up at 3ck. If it turns to driving carpooling would be cool too.

OK, I'm going to be the first to bite the bullet as the forecast is still crappy - I've cancelled Saturday and re-booked Sunday instead!

Scott, if you want to switch to Sunday let me know and I can pick you up.

Driving Sat. will not be a option because I don't have enough gas money....:D but mostly its a time issue. Sunday might work as a option but the wife will not be able to go. Stupid wx. I not giving up yet...I'll wait to see what happens to the MSN taf.

Good luck on your checkride! Weather should be great.

I'm going with Barry and Kate on this one and am rescheduling my participation for SUNDAY. I'll leave a message with the restaurant that we're rescheduling for Sunday due to weather. I don't think they'll have any problem with a reduced number on Saturday without a reservation, so if some feel comfortable with Saturday and still want to go up then, please do! I've booked a plane for Sunday.

Saturday I may try to have a look at the static system in the 210, which was reported inop. Hoping it had just frozen over and that some time in the hangar will clear it. If not, we'll be taking the 182.

I'm willing to go--as long as someone is willing to divert to Lincoln, NE :)

Sunday works for me. 3cK, what time?

Well, if we're still talking 10:00am, I'll pick you up around 9:00am or very shortly thereafter.

Got your PM. PM your cell phone # in case anything happens. I've never been to 3ck, where do you want me to pick you up?

We're still talking about 10:00 AM, but they said that they'd put us down for 8:00 so the tables would be ready when people started to arrive.

There is a ramp area near the Runway 26 approach end. On the south side of the ram, opposite the fuel pumps, is NIFC. I'll wait in there. What tail number will you have?

Oh, the irony. As luck would have it, I need to be in Waukesha first thing Monday morning for work, and the best the airlines could do is a Sunday afternoon departure (from DSM). It would be pretty tough for me to make it to Janesville on Sunday and still get home in time to fly back in a CRJ (Arguably the only aircraft with less cabin space than a 140. Ironically, I probably log more hours in CRJ cabins than in my 140.).

We'll make a final call in the morning for a Saturday trip, but it doesn't look good.

Sorry, Tony - you can either have money or time. At least with money, I can have an airplane sitting in a hangar while I'm working to earn enough money to keep it there... (insert hamster wheel glyph)

I'm bummed. I asked my Inst. Student if he wanted to be my guest in the Seneca II for Saturday. But on Sunday we have to deliver his bird to ALO in the morning.

Sigh.

11:00-12N or some such.

Cherokee 180 pilot departing 3MY at 9:00; I pick him up after he's dealt with the AP installer.

I'll probably be looking for a way to burn a few gallons over the weekend. Maybe I'll stop by.

Grant, I couldn't get a plane on Sunday until 10:30am, so I won't be there until about 11:15. I guess I'll miss the breakfast festivities but I'll try to show up anyway to meet anyone who might be hanging around.

Do you have the name and number of the new restaurant?

It's Kiely Cafe (I may have the spelling wrong, but they can correct it. They're watching this thread.) The phone number is the same as the old one: 1-608-754-9039. It wouldn't surprise me if we don't leave until 1:00 or so! :) Hey, this may wind up being an annual event!
