tick bite causes meat allergy

I read about it in the journals. Very interesting. Unfortunate for your father. There are more reports of it mostly in the southern latitudes I think.

Eek!! Keep that dang thing away from me!!!!

Yeah, both Dallas and my parents acerage half way to Houston are in the covered area. :(

Actually it's my daughter's husband's father, her father in law not mine. Family relationships are getting complicated or I'm getting too old to keep it straight.

Ticks are one pest I could do without, even the dog agrees with me.
Yep. When I first moved to VT, I rarely used DEET because there are rarely enough mosquitoes to justify it. Then I learned that VT is prime Lyme country.* Now I use it religiously before hiking, especially on my socks and lower legs, every season but dead of winter.

But I had never heard of alpha-gal allergy before. Sorry to hear about your daughter's FIL, Rushie. A bit of possibly hopeful info: according to Wikipedia, the allergy may not be permanent and may subside over time.

*Though most cases in VT are in southern areas, and I live in north central VT, not far from KMPV.

Yep, VT even has a town named Lyme.

From this day forward, I am not leaving the house without a hazmat suit.
