14 and 15 year olds steal LSA and take it for a joy ride

Interesting, it doesn't mention that they did any damage to it so I guess they did okay!

Funny, when LSAs were thing, the proponents claimed that it would only take a couple of hours to learn how to fly them. For some reason, flight-schools (which make their money by the hour) disagreed and folks take a crazy long time to get their LSA tickets. Those two teenagers seem to prove that they are indeed easy to fly.

Gotta get that Driver's License to legally fly an LSA!

For all you know, one of them may have 100 hours of training......

An LSA may be easy to fly, but I find it hard to believe that someone could successfully take off and land one without training.

Must be one heck of a group home if the kids are getting flight training.
True. Pilots aren’t the type to take needy youngsters flying.

The barefoot bandit did. Several times. Some of the planes were even reusable.

I’m pretty sure that one of the teens was already a hot Cessna pilot who had been taught by his dad, a USAF colonel who was shot down recently.
I’m just glad they didn’t steal the F-16s this time.

Yeah, and they left out the part about racing against a dirt bike.
But did they have somebody knowledgeable enough to adjust the mixture with a screwdriver through the oil access door so they didn’t stall?

These boys obviously have “the touch,” and God doesn’t give people talents He doesn’t want them to use.

Impressive they flew it as well as they did.

That said I’d still vote to have both of their arms slowly bent till they snap.
Thieves are sub human IMO.

And who said young eagle flights, had no benefit.

They probably "solo'd" on MSFS, or that other one with better graphics.

And, let's not forget the "unofficial" flight training on YouTube!

I’d also want to know what type of father figure they had in their lives

Given that they were from a group home, and knowing someone whose priorities don't include being a father, but who is a "father figure" in a group, I'd imagine they don't have much of one.

I think promoting fatherless homes really helped make many of these child gremlins

Obviously I would not encourage this, but can you imagine the story they will be telling their kids? “Remember when we stole the airplane.....”.

...stated by a guy with 'deviant' in his screen name.

Some years back, an older local guy told me how he and his buddy pulled a wrecked and abandoned Cub from the woods, rebuilt it and taught themselves to fly :-0 After they wrecked it again, his dad told him to sell it.

Their kids will probably be busy breaking into homes or robbing people.

Frankly it’s a shame we’ll probably just slap their wrist and let their genetic failure further fester in our country.

I’m tired of all the bad news and negativity.

I’m gonna take a different viewpoint cuz I’m on vacation (no I’m not drinking). I don’t know the back story, but that’s kinda cool, the same way that a middle schooler computer hacker cracking cyber security is “cool”.

Lighten up society.

I’m sure I’ll be cranky again once I’m back to work next week.

Not sure how victimizing people is cool
