I had an idea I would like to run by anyone interested. Im thinking about building a cabin in southeastern Illinois in a woods that my family owns. Actually we own a few hundred acres all very close to each other some wooded but mostly farm land but full of wildlife. My family will stay there every now and again but we really enjoy going to the beach. Some places we go are orange beach, cocoa beach, satellite beach and gulf shores. I would like to see if anyone who has a condo, beach house or a place to stay in florida or Alabama maybe would be interested in swapping your spare place for my cabin several times a year. I have 2 kids 1.5yrs and 4yr old and my wife and I. KAJG is where I’m hangered and it’s less than 10 minutes from where the cabin would be. Let me know what you think

If you don't find interest here, you might consider doing a HomeAway/VRBO, Airbnb with the cabin you build and using some of the income to pay for your stays at the beach of your choosing.

Yes that had crossed my mind but I thought that might turn more into a job for I’m not really into trying to make money as weird as it sounds. It seems us pilots are a breed or class of our own the way i look at it if you have your ppl or even have your own plane chances are you are a respectful and professional person that I’d trust with my property. This isn’t 100% true I know but usually is a good guide. If it’s someone that I really like and it would work out well I might let them deer hunt, we have a lot of lease hunters that come into so. IL because we have some monsters. I’m a you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours kinda guy

Really my family wants to own a beach house but it makes more financial sense when it comes to upkeep and such to just build our own cabin on land we already own not far from where I live

I would have taken you up on this a couple years ago. We sold our waterfront condo on Siesta Key when it became obvious the carrying costs were ridiculous for how much we were using it. We had a vacation rental agent representing it for several years, but the theft and breakage was quite astounding.

This is an active thing over on Beechtalk in the trips forum. Seems that beech owners tend to be more, ehegm, well off and own property more so than broke arse bastages like myself.......Someone has to rent so the slum lords can get rich, right? Anyway, I suggest trying it over there as I think you will have better results.
