When I first heard of Flat Earthers years ago I thought they were just trolls have a good time. Lately I've come to realize they're serious to the point of holding conventions and by default drive conspiracy theories to a new level.

Have any of you "debated" Flat Earthers? Are their aviation related "proofs" mind imploding to you too?

Oh Yeah, they’re pretty serious about it.

Life is too short...

The earth is not flat. It is not round, or oval or square.

IT'S SCRAMBLED..!!!!

I've never engaged one nor do I plan to. You can't fix stupid.
I understand. I've made the mistake of trying to explain the HI when they said the AI & HI prove flat & non-rotating.

Ravioli's True Story Time:

When I worked for a chemical company we shipped adhesives in tanker trucks. Most of them were single compartment but multi compartment was common for customers who needed smaller quantities of two products.

"Leon the loader" had a consistent problem overfilling (aka spilling) tank trucks. It was messy and expensive and it kept happening.

The plant manager asked him after his last problem, "tell me how you loaded this truck." He said he confirmed the tank was empty and dry, the bottom valves were closed, he put the stinger in, he traced the lines all the way back to the tank, started the pump, and went to the break room for 20 minutes as usual.

Plant manager tells him this was a two holer, does that change anything? "Nope"

So he takes him to the lab and gets a pint jar and a quart jar and asks Leon time him as he fills each. One took longer, don't ya know.

He asks Leon, "Why did the pint jar fill up so much quicker"

Leon says "You held it closer to the faucet."

Leon stayed on with the company for 10 more years. Turns out he was an EXCELLENT janitor.

Attention whores, all of them. I know a flat earther and he is always begging for attention in one way or another. Free energy, conspiracies, flat earth, chemtrails, etc. My day sucked, I hate my job, I hate this, these people mess with me, fluoride in the water, blah blah blah.

As many ridiculously stupid people I’ve met in my sixty years, I still find that story really hard to believe.

Truth is stranger than fiction, they say.

3" line pumping a product that is roughly half water with not much viscosity increase. At 10-15 psi 30 minutes is about right to fill a 4000 gal tank.

I was not there when Charlie talked to Leon, but his lack of comprehension of volume did not surprise me and he did change positions and work there until he retired. He was a really nice guy and none us would have wanted to let him go because of his limitations. He liked to talk about his vegetable garden and his wife's cooking more than anything else.

what company’s policies would permit abandoning a pumping activity or at least not staying in constant visual contact with it??

That part was [poorly] explained to me as "it's night shift." I left that company in 1995. One of my projects before leaving was to put ultrasonic level sensing on the stinger arms that would kill the pump, and video monitoring of the 6 bay rack and each active loading. Monitors were placed in 3 locations, and as stupid as it sounds, the break room was one of them. I'm surprised they never got a complaint that they "don't get breaks because they have to monitor the rack."

And don't get me started about the "parking lot must be video monitored for security purposes" mantra of the shift workers that was followed by the wrongful termination suit of the guy seen smoking ganga in the parking lot for about an hour. He said it infringed on his privacy while on break. Didn't explain the length of the break, and didn't get far with his complaint.

Like the time I was picking up a trailer load of 18 wheeler tires and wheels. I helped the guy load them. After we had them tied down, I said, '' man, glad to be finished, those things are heavy.'' The guy looked at me and said ''they oughta be, the got purt near 100 pounds of air in 'em....''

Yep. Thought I was being trolled by a friend of almost 30 years. After a few FB exchanges I began to realize he was being serious. He'd send links to videos that would, literally, make my head hurt with their stupidity. And he's a smart, successful guy. Completely baffles me. I have no explanation.

I’ve been under the impression that the whole thing is a parody on skepticism. If people actually believe it, I’m really not sure what to think about it. But, I still have to believe that the powers behind it are doing it for some other purpose.

The Earth is flat. I am convinced of it. The only people who believe it is round are those who have been influenced by the mind altering chemtrails. Fortunately, there are folks like me who have a natural immunity to these mind altering drugs.

Just kidding. These folks are off their rockers. Though I do believe that a large contingent of them are in it for the laughs and do not actually believe the nonsense. I know some of these posers. They think it's fun to play along with and pump up the ones that truly believe.

Did he buy into the jet fuel hoax conspiracy too?

Ah crap! I clicked on the video. Now I will have to clear out my yertube 'recommended for you.' It will take months!

So I'm in the sim this week, bouncing around and laughing at being baffled...But there is a switch in the sim that says "chemical dispersant." There is no conspiracy. We even have an anonymous thread going about it.

True, I swear. . .I have a neighbor who believes it. Not so much dumb as intellectualy lazy, with some psychological/personality issues. and maybe a little dumb. . .

Ah, the Flat Earth group. Ya know, these handful of folks are smarter than everyone else. We're being fooled but they have it all figured out. LOL

I know a few people that are absolutely intelligent, but don't know enough to not look up with their mouth open during a heavy rain shower...

I have always wondered how much of the whole flat earth thing is a huge joke, and how much of it is actually people that are wired badly enough to believe it. Then I always manage to remind myself... I can't fix any of it, so I really don't care.

Btw, some of you are probably part of the conspiracy by default. Just like every shipping company and airline who take inefficient routes to prop up the lie.:p

Why then, do we not have to keep pushing forward, huh, smarties?!?!?!

Got ya right there, didn't I?

* after Brinay was taken seriously in obvious satire, I sigh as I type this... but this is totally real, I 100% believe this, and I'm worried that if I keep the auto pilot on and I fall asleep, I'll venture off the edge and find myself flying out into space.

Holding conventions doesn't mean they're not trolls. They're just really organized trolls.

Same people who rant about fire not being able to melt steel and 911 conspiracy theories.

See. The fact that the Twin Towers came straight down and did not fall over from the curvature of the Earth proves the Earth is flat.

The evidence is everywhere.

OMG, ITS TRUE!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(You know this will show up in some Flat Earther you tube video tomorrow:rolleyes:)

Cheers

Ha ha, There is a very simple proof for a round earth. " If the earth was flat, cats would have knocked everything over the edges by now" ;-P
There's a rim.... like a plate.

Yeah, really.

The true story is Leon didn't become a janitor, he became Head of Human Resources.
No, Human Resources was Kevin..."My door is always open, but I'm probably not paying attention."

He didn't actually say that...they were two separate, but adjacent, sentences.

There seem to be enough of ‘em that by now they could have mounted an expedition to the edge and proved their case.
You don't know about the secret naval blockade of Antarctica? (I wish I made this up)
