Repair a Bose headset ear seals?

Hi.
Is there a recommenced adhesive that would stick to the sponge inside and get the outside thin layer of leather to stick to it. Maybe RTV but smells pretty bad.
It's somewhat disappointing to see a $1,000.00 headset fall apart like that, and my $200.00 Peltor is still in great condition.
 
They sell a replacement ear seal, that would work way better than trying to glue something together

Yes, I am aware, but in another year, or so, I would be looking at the same problem, it's a vicious circle. Nothing is broken, or even warned out, it just came unglued.
There should be someone that has done it, this not exactly brain surgery.

Searched "adhesive for foam rubber" and a number of products came up. 3M Super 77 seems like it should work. Youtube video shows it gluing foam to fabric batting. Listings include fabric, foam, leather, etc.

Might try calling Bose if you think the ear seal is faulty? And yeah, I have some 3M 90 and it is some sticky a$$ stuff.
 
Hi everyone.
The set is only a couple of years old.
The sponge under the the leather is very porous I am not sure if the 3M 77 is too thin, since it comes as spray, I am sure it works on foam.. but may be too thin for sponge? From my past experience the sponge needs some adhesive that has body to it to get it to stick to soft sponge surface. I looked on the Inet but could not find anything specific. Typically the best way to find something for an unusual application, like this, is to have others that tried and found it to work.

I will look at the 3M 90 and check it out. Calling Bose, even if they would fix it, would take time, I want to find a quick and easy solution.

Yes, we got some on order. It does not look like they are very well made, it's good to know if there is an easy fix for it.
 
Bose fixed mine once. Even when they were out of warranty. Don't believe the turnaround was over a week. I think I am getting 5? years out of ear seals. I wouldn't try to fix it, I would send it in, even if it cost $50. ie 10 bucks a year.
 
But if the ear seal itself (the part Rudy linked to above) is the issue, they may not take care of it. I think Bose told me they expect 6 months life from ear seals which is admittedly self-serving. I go 3-4 years myself. But my last pair were crumbling and leaving black spots all over my face when I replaced them - got my money's worth I guess.
