So I got my commercial!

Passed the commercial checkride yesterday. Actually it was a do-over from last week where I messed up on my landings. Did the cross country portion, hit my checkpoints, then did the deviation. When we got to the airport the first landing was the power off 180. I had it nailed and just right before touchdown I jerked the yoke or something and hit down just shy of my touchdown point. After that the landings went comedically down hill. It reminded me of @denverpilot on his commercial check right, it was like I forgot how land all of a sudden. I got really frazzled. He even asked, 'have you had enough?' and I said nope, lets finish. So I passed all the rest of the checkride except for the steep turns. I NEVER mess up on steep turns, but somehow let the one to the right get away from me.

So I went back yesterday to do the TOs and landing again and the steep turns. All was fine. I took it out of PDK and went to FTY to do the landings. Anyway, I sure and glad I don't have to study for that one any more.

If any of you remember my story from other threads, hadn't flown for 11 years until July '17 last year. Did a flight review and got back in the saddle. Did a little training after that, but then joined a flying club last march and flown over 60 hours since then. Nothing better for your confidence than just flying a LOT.

Anyway, glad to be back in full swing. On to an IPC and multi commercial add on.

That's awesome Brian... congrats!

I'm jealous. I'm just now starting to stare blankly and drool on approach plates. :sosp:

Way to go

Congrats!

I have thinking what I could do to challenge myself now that I am 60 with a private license and IFR rating I got back in 1994. Your accomplishment creates a desire to look into going after a Commercial rating just to say I did it!

Thanks for posting your story!

Oh boy did you screw up. Now you be in a higher tax bracket with all the money you will be making.

Congrats!!!

Gave up my PPL years ago. Then gave up my CPL in 2003.

Only thing I have left to do is get Engrish Ploficient in my certificate...

Congrats!! I just wrapped up the IR and started my CPL work in a Cirrus. Hope to have the license before I turn 66 in January ;-)

Just to stand out from the herd, I’m gonna say too bad, sorry to hear this happened to you. Now you won’t have any free time left and all you’ll think about is flying. Just like the rest of us here in the herd. :)

Commercial finally showed up online. Just under a month. Still haven't received my new plastic yet.
