Sure many of you are still up there enjoying yourselves, but my one day has come and gone. Never to early to start planning for next year! :) :) :)

Up and back in the same day. Oddly enough, I flew another PC-12 back up to Wisconsin (even further north) today. I couldn’t help but listen to the Oshkosh freqs on the way by.

well thanks for buyin the whelen's for me, I appreciate it!

Already started planning... as did everyone else,it seems! No rooms available at the HIlton Oshkosh Inn a year from now (and the soonest you can reserve is a year in advance!)

Looks like I may be going to Green Bay and taking a bus to the show next year.

I did Green Bay two years ago. Easy drive, but you’re up early and getting back late is pretty tiring. Appleton hotels should still be available.

You people on this thread planning for next year's show sound like the sort of people that have their Christmas shopping done before the kids are back in school. In other words the sort of people the rest of us secretly hate. ;)

Not me. I’m usually shopping for my wife and daughter on Christmas Eve, but I’ve got to start thinking about how I’m getting to Oshkosh as early as possible. :)

Just finished convincing the wife to let my son and I take our plane up next year and camping and that she’d probably be happier not coming along, lol.

We hope to take the Zenith next year - we just have to finish building it and do the 40 hours flight testing and we are good to go...:cool::confused:

We stopped by DBQ to see the NATA practicing on Saturday and my wife said we are not missing next year....so I have already blacked out that week on my calendar at work.

Secretly? :sosp:

I've already marked my 2019 work calander and told my boss. All that's left is to convince the others at work to join!

Wow.. Looking at Hilton, here are the only hotels listed as available from Green Bay through FDL next year:

I found out I can be fed at my little Oshkosh gig. Real game changer. Don't need to get back to the airplane to eat lunch.

I’m seriously considering making the flight next year. I want to be part of it once as a fly-in participant. Apparently arriving a few days early is the safe way to get there.

I have a non-AC room at the University and I am on the wait list for an AC room. Already reserved the flying club 172, but unsure if I am going to do that or take the airlines. Planning on arriving Tuesday and departing Friday. Can't wait!

I think I would still camp regardless, it completes the experience. Not having to hassle with daily traffic is a great thing.

FOMO for the win.
I planned on going every other year.

So my wife goes "My whole fb feed is OSH photos. I want to go next time."
My dad who has never had interest has a neighbor that went and was telling him about it.

Looks like the 3 of us are going to plan for 2019. I suspect we will do a satellite airport and uber in or something.
Dad and Wife aren't interested in the hornet's nest or showering on a truck.

Looks like I get a new hat in 2019.

You could still fly in to OSH and get reasonable local accommodations. We've been staying in the dorms, and so long as you don't mind reliving college a little bit, it's a great deal. The showers are a little bit of a step up from a truck!

If you have a friend with a trailer or RV, you can potentially camp out in the RV spots. The full service hookups seem to linger until the last minute, then go quick the few days (week) before OSH. I think I’m either going to tow a trailer or rent a RV to be dropped off if I go next year.

Plan on going back, probably try to arrive Weds instead of Thursday. Pace myself a bit during the show instead of running around to every thing.

That and break up the flight a bit into two days (at-least going westbound) 9.5 in a Cheetah really numbs your a**

But then you wouldn't actually experience the mass arrival of all the other crazies. Safer probably not not really the full actual experience. Which is fine too.

I've been going to Oshkosh and Sun & Fun for years, but typically as a presenter and exhibitor. I'm jealous of y'all that get to camp next to your plane and come and go whenever you've had enough. While I have landing at OSH one year as a attendee, I typically fly in to Appleton because that's where our hotel blocks are. In spite what all of my colleagues think, going to OSH for nine days of set up, working the booth, meetings, presenting at forums, and then catching up on normal work after hours, followed by breakdown, and finally a 4:45 non-stop flight home morphs into a 7:30 storm dodging tour of OH WVA, and SW VA (on the way back to DC) is real work!

Sigh, I need a nap :)

I have my staff, as well as my patients trained that the week of Oshkosh (aka Airventure) is like deer hunting camp up here in NE WI. Totally off limits and I might as well be off the planet as far as they are concerned regarding me being available for anything other than aviation.

This has been our practice for decades.

In fact, it's in our written employee interview notes: "What are you doing the last week of July?"

If they answer anything, they don't get hired. :)

This was Oshkosh #36 in a row. We are already planning for #37. OSH is not negotiable.

I'll be ok without the full actual experience. I've had one trip to AirVenture and experienced what very few, if anyone, has ever experienced. That visit will be tough to match.

My wife is washing all our stuff that only goes to Oshkosh. It goes back into the "oshkosh box" for next year. I've got the computers from the Vintage operations center. I'll probably unbox them during the winter sometime and make some requested upgrades to the software.

Our little group (affectionately known as "Trailer Trash", as we all keep our camping stuff in a trailer that a farmer friend stores for us near OSH) is already making changes, additions, and suggestions for next year.

The biggest change will be a more organized coffee center, with more mugs, carafes, and an additional coffee maker. We are coffee-central in the North 40, under the big Texas flag, and we kept running out of coffee.

Next year, we won't! ;)

Good deal. Quite a show you put on this year, looking forward to next year's Bry-venture.

We will be there. Sat-Mon nights at Hampton Inn Green Bay. Its a place holder in the event weather is predicted to be crap. If not, camping again it is
