Yeah revolutionary.....except tilt-wing technology is old af. So are tilt-rotors.
What the fanbois don't understand is that this has nothing to do with Luddite arguments, and everything to do with weight, thrust vectoring complexity (weight) and degrade modes. tilt-wing/rotors have horrendous degrade flight characteristics. Frankly they make helicopter hover/autorotate dynamics look "car driving" simple. Lord knows pedestrians have no business manually attempting to hover in any capacity, let alone as bona fide pedestrians with no formal flight training, which btw is one of the primary barriers to access to the recreational skies (cost).
Automation isn't gonna be able to avoid the carnage when these things lose propellers asymmetrically or encounter high crosswind components in STOL-VTOL phase of flight, especially so for the tilt-wing variant. Basic b---h Suzie and Johnnie manbun aint' gonna like that opportunity cost so much. But it's a cool demonstrator, so credit where credit is due. Maybe they can give carnie rides at OSH for nickle a pop.
Weeee.....
