DJ Fontana was Elvis' original drummer. He was the house drummer on the Louisiana Hayride radio show when Elvis came through and brought him on board. He played with him up until 1968 but they remained friends until Elvis died. I became friends with DJ's son, David, when I moved to Nashville in the 90's. David is a drummer as well and we played together for nearly 20 years. In that time I got to know DJ and played with him several times. Even in his 80's he could still lay down the back beat! It was always interesting to hear DJ tell stories not just about Elvis but about the Beatles, Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, etc. All those guys looked up to him as one of the originators of Rock and Roll. He was an amazing man and an important part of music history, RIP Dj

RIP.

But, the most rock'n'roll drummer ever obviously was Keith Moon.

There's too many to claim that. They're all great, like I said too many to single out.

I don't think anyone gets close to Keith Moon.

(Note, I didn't say the greatest rock'n'roll drummer, but the most rock'n'roll drummer ever. Keith Moon is in a league of it's own when it comes to rockstar antics.)

Yeah, you know they're the quintessential 'most rock 'n' roll drummer' when they die from it.
