Cherokee 6 Raffle coming.

1. The only way to do this legit, is to use a non-profit 501(c) for the proceeds. Otherwise, it's just considered gambling.
2. You'd only have to pay taxes on the market value of the A/C. IRS forms will be submitted for that value so that appropriate (28%?) taxes can be charged.
THe witholdingis 25% if the winner provides a SSN if they don't then it's 28%

so, I don't get it. is there any way this can be legit? (le-what? legit.) if you win, will you have to pay taxes on $300,000 (3000 tickets x $100)? why wouldn't everybody do this, raise 300k for a 100k airplane?
To finish the answer the reason why is it's risky (kinda). Plus the proceeds cannot enrich a person or business. It has to be used for the intended, stated, purpose when you incorporate the 501(c)3. We will be using the net proceeds to advance aviation education through scholarships and Angel Flight.

i'm excited. first raffle for a capable plane.
I know right? I'll be looking for the next one as soon as I get through 1000 tickets on this one. I am specifically lookigfor way over-improved airplanes that no ne would ever buy. think c150 with g500....

Yah I agree, it's hard not to get excited reading about this one:

and
https://www.aopa.org/go-fly/aircraft-and-ownership/aircraft-fact-sheets/piper-cherokee-6

Both make me want one.

I think these raffles are fun. You aren't likely to win; you are really buying hope. You are paying for a few nights where you drift off, dreaming of what you would do when declared the winner. Where would you fly first, would you try to take it all the way across the country for a winter vacation? It seems just fast enough to consider it. How cool will you look flying that thing? How will your transition training go? Will the dog stay in the far back seat? How is this thing in the back country, does it handle the grass strips well?

That's cool I'll post here when the tickets are available. I'll figure out a way to get tickets in a more "analog" way. We already have over 300 people signed up for first notice when the tickets are on sale.

I think you should close the raffle at 300 people. That way I have a better chance of winning that 6! Actually sell them all, more money for your charity and I’ll still win the plane.

nice looking plane. it'll be a nice addition to the eman1200 airlines fleet.

Boy, when they say interior, you deliver!

Wow, thanks! She will look great in the hangar here next to the debonair i fly sometimes

Your web form has this question:

What is thirteen minus 6?

I typed seven and was told that was the wrong answer.

Though 7 worked.

If everyone expects him to not use any services that they haven't had a bad experience with, or dislikes their politics, etc, he'll be asking for cash and handing out ticket stubs.

It's cool I think I can find a way for everyone to get tickets. Raffleup is for convience and to keep it audited and legal. Godaddy, is, evidently, becasue I'm an idiot...

I probably should have said gold and not cash. some have issues with the fed gov......

So when is this raffle gonna start, eh? EH?
We have to get the 501(c)3 election approved first then the rules have to be approved by the lawyers. Conservatively, I'd say January. I'd like to be able to show it at Sun n Fun to finish selling any tickets left over. Before then the paint and interior will be done. I'll keep photos coming on progress.

@tlrussell

As the 503(c) gets setup, and the lawyers approve, be sure to include language on the site about tax donations and other details.

Good luck,

Tim

Can't help you with the wallet issue, but I found the Six was pretty easy to learn. I checked out in it with less than 200 hours I think.

Yeah, I’m sure with some good transition training, it would be fine. I only have 105 hours, but some of that was in a hawk XP so I have at least used a CS prop.

you're going to paint over the green?!?!?!

dang. seriously, I dig the original paint scheme, but I get that many folks want the swoopy Cessna style. I'm sure you're picking something great for it

Anything but that green
