Cherokee 6 Raffle coming.

thanks, just getting a list together so when paint is done I can notify those interested. My hope is that we'll have enough to sell out day one.
you're going to paint over the green?!?!?!

dang. seriously, I dig the original paint scheme, but I get that many folks want the swoopy Cessna style. I'm sure you're picking something great for it

Agreed, I think the green looks pretty sharp if it's in good shape. Instead of new paint, I'd love to see a pair of G5s. : )

You now have my e-mail address. Looking forward to this one.

fyi, I have had a bad experience with "Rally Up", the raffle system Tim is using. I purchased tickets for another airplane raffle last September and had the credit card number stolen. Fortunately the problem was caught quickly and everything was resolved in my favor.

I wish Tim luck in disposing of his airplane. But I won't be participating (as much as I would like to) due to RallyUp being the raffle mechanism.

thanks for the input Mike. Was it rallyups fault or some other issue?

I didn't pursue this any further once the ticket purchase cost was refunded, and USAA acknowledged the disputes, closed the account, and issued a replacement card.

So no info on who caused the info breach.

But as said in that other thread, if you can provide an alternate means of purchasing tickets (like PayPal), then I might be persuaded to participate.

This is exactly why I'm posting now. I will pursue other payments. Thanks for the info.

I thought only nonprofits could conduct a raffle. Am I incorrect in my thinking?

Edit. Never mind I reread the link in the OP

Let me guess, you’re asking for a friend in Florida?
Unless restrictiedby state laws anyone can win. Plane will be shown in Florida at the usual plaes. I will post a schedule of visits I'll make to airports once availble. Home hangar is KSPG and I have another at 42J

Dang man, I remember when you brought this plane home! I remember seeing it advertised online and you beating me to it! lol

I'm in. make sure to share when they go on sale

Add me to the list! I’m interested. A 6 would be perfect for my new family of 5.

I'm interested as well.

Good Lord, I need that plane! The ol' 182 aint gonna hold my family of 5 for much longer. I'm in like Flynn!

Don't know what your losers are thinking. That plane is mine, uh, I mean it's my friend's!!

really great plane, I'm gonna throw another 30k into her before the raffle it will be top notch. You know what I did to her when I bought her...

so, I don't get it. is there any way this can be legit? (le-what? legit.) if you win, will you have to pay taxes on $300,000 (3000 tickets x $100)? why wouldn't everybody do this, raise 300k for a 100k airplane?

1. The only way to do this legit, is to use a non-profit 501(c) for the proceeds. Otherwise, it's just considered gambling.
2. You'd only have to pay taxes on the market value of the A/C. IRS forms will be submitted for that value so that appropriate (28%?) taxes can be charged.

You pay tax on the assessed value it will be 130K ish when we are done with it. We are checking the legality of offering a separate ticket (for $50) that will cover your taxes by grossing that up. At 130k you would also win another $43,000 to pay the tax. So far we have no indication that it is illegal anywhere.

The charity will have to pay tax on the net proceeds of the drawing. It is wishful thinking that the first one would sellout. We are planning to more though.
