Kentucky Dam PoA fly-in... (M34 Apr 26-29) who's coming?

A downside to April for some folks or maybe just me is that we like to or need to spread out our aviation trips and time away from regular life. Sun-n-Fun is in April. That’s the main reason I didn’ go to the dam. I had just been to SNF and then spent another week out of town on business. How about May or June?

May is Wings. Anything south of the Ohio River in June July and August is unbearable - which is why Gaston's got moved to October. September is 6Y9, October is now Gaston's - which displaced Windwood.

I will try to find out when this is so we don't clash. Looks pretty crowded

On the right side of the desktop site:

2016 Sept 23th - Sept 25th
2017 Sept 22th - Sept 24th
Note the updated 2017 Dates!!
2018 Sept 26th - Sept 30th

Yep, saw that just as I was hitting send. Some great ideas on their website about nearby accomodations and things to do as well. This could easily replace the KMGY spring fling and be closer to some of our more southern flyers, but about 90 km farther for our western pilots

what is the goal, to be able to walk to the airport?
Just a quick note.

It IS your and 6pc's fly-in. If you guys like Kentucky Dam and want to keep it there then that's cool too. Don't let me or anyone else try to persuade you to do something you don't wanna do!

It's just that it's really cool to be able to sit outside your cabin at first light, sip on a cup of coffee, and then think to yourself "it's a beautiful morning to fly..yeah...I think I will!" And in 15 minutes be in the air.

OTOH, some people (I definitely won't mention any names (@tmyers)) don't really appreciate LTD's 0600 wildlife clearing pass.

it belongs to all of us. someone recommended KY Dam and we tried it. I had no issues with it but others are suggesting rough river. I'd love to check it out. there is a dam there as well, so technically it is still a 'kentucky' 'dam' fly in, sort of. I'm not convinced that walking 500 yards with all your stuff (if you're staying in the hotel/lodge) is any better than waiting for a ride directly to your doorstep, but it doesn't matter to me. what IS important is if one place would bring more people than the other. otherwise I'm game for trying a different place. looking long term, it would be nice if we could decide on a place and keep it there. OR, we can just wander around trying different places, I don't care. whichever place caters to a hangover the best. also, I'm guessing but I think no matter where we go, some will want to camp, others will want a hotel or cottage so we'll still be spread out, although rough river looks a little more compact than kydam. I also want to make sure the Germans can make it cause holy @$%^ the @German guy is funny when he gets drunk.

Don't remember ever complaining about an 0600 clearing pass, kinda like the smell of napalm in the morning, smells like victory

We will be in for the 2019 PoA meeting. We loved it and our only regret is that we couldn’t make it to M34 earlier...

I agree with nearly all of that. The only exception being that for the majority of this crowd, if we witness first light, it must be time for bed, not coffee sippin and flying time.

All I have to say is that after attending numerous fly-ins and meeting many cool people, it's now time to change my signature tag line.

We all love ya Timmy, whats not to love. Heck, Jeannette even likes ya. In addition to that you have found a gem in Lisa.

That's the age old difference between young bulls and old bulls

Ahhh...yeah...BS...

I know all too well that you just like me for my girlfriend. @OkieFlyer only likes me for my chocolate ice cream. And @Bill Jennings only likes me for my sausage!

Oh wait...

Crawling back into my hole now...

Rough River (2i3) is 90nm @ 60 degrees. Another state park. Easy walk from the airport to the lodge.

The google maps picture must have been taken on the day of a Velocity fly-in.

I got news for ya Timmy. Having sampled a little of your sausage, I love ya for that too.

Sitting in the glider on the front porch this morning with a good cup of coffee, watching and listening to all the birds busy with their day. I hear a Cessna overhead and think about the friends I am missing this morning.

Definitely. I would also expect Mrs6PC will want to catch the next one. JCranford said he's pumped for the next dam fly-in, and his lady will come. So I'm thinking we ought to have Cici, Jenny, Jeanette, Jaime, Melody(ie), Martina, Sue, Sue, Susan, Christine, Lisa, and Eren at least.

Plus, when @Skyrys62 rolls out next year's redneck undergarments line, the females will flock to see me model it.

Yeah, Rough River looks like a better spot fo sho. I suppose the extra 100 miles would be worth it. That'll be about 4.5 hrs. I can dig it.

That must have been a big hairy redneck imposter in undies.

I was sick the whole flight home

I feel ya. I was good by the time we left, but getting up and around was a bit of a struggle. Welcome to POA, by the way! Looks like we weirdos lured you in. Muhaha!

Three whole posts and you're already showing me with my undies. You gonna fit right in.

It was a rough time home. I thought i was fine when we left but it was a bit bumpy. Hangovers and turbulence don’t mix. We landed for gas but they were out. Got sick at that airport. We flew to the next airport and realized we lost our gas cap so we had to go back to the gasless airport to find it. We did luckily and flew back to the other airport to get gas and then home. Got sick again when i got home. A lot of up and down and not in a good way.

As for weirdos...well I am one myself in case you haven’t figured that out by now. Most days I have a teenage boy sense of humor. Thanks for acceptance in to your club even knowing the super stupid drunk side of me. Took me over 3 years for “Tiger” to see that side of me. Lesson learned but probably not.

Now that I have me a plane, I'm gonna hunt ya'll down next time. I'm in Clarksville. Matter of fact, going to M93 tomorrow for the best breakfast around

I just ran across these on my iPad, forgot I took them on my flight home. Keep getting asked how fast the Archer will fly, well here you go.

Next time I’m flying around at 2000’ or so in winter and it’s reading 135 I’ll try to remember to document it.
