If you make it down on Saturday I'll be happy to go with you as you shoot a few. I'm driving over, so short for me it's quicker to drive than fly. :(

Sure, I'm sure you'd get some laughs out of my 1st approach attempt lol.

I totally agree, I have mines... But the real question is how many dont who are planning to make this trip???
That's the issue with all fly-ins. The forecast for Saturday and Sunday (I'd be staying over) is quite acceptable IFR (even with my personal minimums :)), but no sense going without a large turnout.

Going to depend on what the wedge does and when it breaks down.

Yeah, I’m keeping watch. If forecasts continue to indicate less than favorable conditions, I’ll toss out some rain-out dates and gather a consensus & post pone until then.

:fcross:

IS this the one that has the mannequins in the bathroom??

my thoughts exactly. i’ll wait to see who is committed.. i am sure @Ryanb will come up with a rain out date.

Still early, long range progs shows a stationary front over the northern KY border, and the ceiling and vis charts look favorable. We just need to keep watching!

Need a new survey. "Was getting my instrument rating the best thing I did in aviation? Yes - No"

I’ll be throwing out some ideas for rain dates on Thursday. Giving it a little more time for updated Wx.

Forecast for Saturday is now Partly Cloudy and 10% chance of rain.

I was getting worried. It had been almost a whole day since we talked about the weather. :)
Yeah, it will only change about 6 times between now and Friday night. Then twice more before lunch.

Atlanta folks, if all the out of towners bail on us, who's up for still getting together? We could change the location if that works better for those driving. Hopefully the original plan works out.

Sorry, I know it's bad form to hijack a thread, so hijacking a whole fly-in must be really frowned upon. :)

Bonus points for being really frowned upon! ;)

I'm good for it. I'm planning on driving anyway. If the whole thing collapses, then maybe we see if The Flying Machine is still a good location, or something else. My wife is scheduling a massage, so I'm open. If the VFR guys start bailing, then we can stick with LZU. I'm in Vinings if you want to ride over together; if you're still in Marietta. I'm happy to drive over there.

I'm not calling it for myself until late Friday when I can get more of an accurate forecast. Rain shouldn't be a problem, but rather the ceiling here in SE Tennessee. Still keeping my fingers crossed!

If it doesn't happen on Saturday, I will toss some ideas out for a reschedule in the coming weeks for those who may not be able to make it.

I can do Saturday one way or the other but only at The Flying Machine.

As long as it’s 200 & ½ or better, I’m planning on coming.

Sounds like we are up to at least 4 at the Flying Machine regardless of rain. Hope more can make it.

I may be able to get some of my mentors to come over, but that would be after 1:00 pm

I put this together for those that might come early and want to see what we're doing with the youth program. We are on the north side of the field and The Flying Machine is on the south side. The youth program takes place in Hangar 6 (sign on door says Bishop Education Hangar). There is ramps space to park nearby if you fly in early to visit and then taxi back over to the restaurant for lunch. If you are driving in and want to come check us out, PM me and I will give you the gate code. The hangar marked EAA 690 Hangar on the picture is our regular meeting hangar and is hangar 1. There are eights hangars in the row so you can figure out where hangar 6 is.KLZU Overhead.PNG

As of now, I’m planning to be wheels up at 10:30 which should place my ETA at ~11:15a. Hoping to arrive a little early and also catch everyone’s landings.

If anyone wants to get there before me to see my bounce bounce balloon float landing, feel free to do so! Just don’t take any videos of it.

Thanks for that @EppyGA
