After 5 days of ground and several written tests I’m done with captain ground school. The first day was general subjects such as limitations, miscellaneous FOM stuff, etc. We took 2 20 question tests that tested on Dangerous Goods and Security procedures. We came back from lunch and took a third test about CATII procedures, required equipment, callouts, etc. Second day was all systems. Since we’re all typed in the plane, the instructor doesn’t spoon feed us like he did in initial. Some subjects like the AFCS (automatic flight control system) and Powerplant we were able to breeze by and he mostly just clicked through slides. Third day was more systems and after lunch we took the 100 question systems test which was 80% systems and the rest a mix of FOM and limitations. Fourth day was captain leadership. It basically was just story time, tell me about a time, what would you do types of scenarios. Fifth day was more of the same with he exception of getting to talk to our Chief Pilot and giving us some last minute advice. Our media team took a picture of us and now we’re off to sims! This was the complete upgrade class (CRJ200 and 900). We were separated except for the two days of captain leadership training

P.S. I met this really weird guy named @LDJones and his wife for dinner yesterday;). It was great to finally meet a POAer!

It wasn’t “take your kid to work day.” I promise. See outlined picture!

Good job! You’re off to a good start it seems. I’m just curious, about how long are you thinking it will take to be competitive for a major?

Congrats Jordan!

A few words for your journey...

Ride captain ride, upon your mystery ship
Be amazed at the friends you have here on your trip
Ride captain ride, upon your mystery ship
On your way to a world that others might have missed

No idea man. I get a guaranteed interview with Delta after two years in the left seat. Here’s the 2016 hiring demographics from the recruiting page on Facebook. I’m right around 3000TT with 1200ish in the jet. Some people are getting hired without any PIC time and some aren’t getting hired despite thousands of of hours of PIC time, volunteer experience, check airman, etc.

You’re in a good spot. That’s awesome.

Congrats.

That age 37 average really shows. I only see three people with any white or grey hair in the photo.

That stat is for Delta. There’s only about 10 of us so far that upgraded at 23-24. Lots of experience in my class. I tried to soak it all in. I didn’t have as many exciting stories as they did:)

Jordan ya have to make 'em up! Ask your Dad and use some of his tales. :D

I’m getting to the age where just about every regional pilot looks young to me. Hell, even at mainline the junior guys are looking young.

Get off my lawn you damned kids! And get a haircut!

Heh - congrats Jordan. :)

A lot of our new hire FOs are 21. I feel old at 24. They’re going to have a great career.

pilot to pilot marriage?¿ Why would you put that evil on him? You're a mil guy, you know exactly what I'm talking about too. Friends don't let friends...:D

He mentioned marriage, not me. I’m just talking about an overnight, mutual high-five, and move on, lol.

Bravo zulu man. Flying right seat with my CFI on one of his sightseeing flights has the wheels turning to get the commercial multi..

So does “Captain Journey” never stop
believing?

Couldn’t resist.

Jordan is now forever nicknamed “Captain Journey”. Callsign earned... :)
