I had a puppy.

Great and loyal dogs Mike. Great around kids, you won't regret it. Four for us so far.

Mrs. Half Fast had a Sheltie when we were dating. Wonderful, sweet dog. If we lived in a cooler climate I’d love to have one, but the Florida heat is a bit much for all that hair.

Well it exactly Siberia here in Alabama, besides, that's why God invented air conditioning...

Hope this is not seen as commercial, but...

...this just hit my email:

No personal interest, other than this is from a local rescue group we work with in N GA.

Eddie, if they rescue a litter of Doberman pups, call me. Afraid of an Aussie running our horses, but I do like them.

I was sitting on the floor in the lobby having a meeting with some friends today (his kid had to go to sleep, so we had to clear out). Out of the elevator comes a sweet golden who was sure 1) I needed to pet her and 2) she needed to take my slippers with her. Dog hair all over my jacket, but I'm pleased I got to pet her. Someday we'll have dogs, someday ....

You want hair? I got you beat. Our current brood (just look past the kids) ...

We used to shave down Chowder (and me) every Spring.

General consensus is that it’s not good for them - the fur acts as insulation from the heat, and protects them from UV rays and bugs. We do get her trimmed periodically, but leave closer to an inch of fur now for protection.

What if you shave only their belly so they can lie on cool floors (especially tile)?

Since this is a "dog thread" I won't start a new one. This is so cool. I just love how much dogs love their people...and vice versa!

The other dogs make fun of them. Their self esteem plummets. They start eating poo. Next thing you know, they're hanging out down at the docks late at night.
.....then it’s drugs and one ends up with a stoner dog:

A couple summers ago we left our puppy with a friend while I was in Alaska. Frankie was about 7 months old when I left. I was gone for almost 7 months and my wife was gone for 4 months. When we got back she did not recognize us. She barked and barked at us just like the video. I kept trying to give her a treat but she would not take it from me. My wife tried to give her a treat, and she finally took it from her, then she recognized my wife. After a few minutes Frankie came over to me and cautiously sniffed me, then like the video she was all over me.

When we took her home she went through the house sniffing everything, then went to her bed, laid down and gave a big sigh. For the next few days every time my wife or myself got up to do something she would follow us around as if we were going to leave her again.

Damn you Tim! You got my eyes all watery.
That pup's reaction was priceless, typical dogs, the most awesome creatures out there (even above humans).
Reminded me a lot of my ex pup. I miss him badly. Sheeet, we need to start looking to adopt another rescue boy.
And no, my eyes did not get watery either. Never. Ever. We are men, we cannot admit such silly emotions, no matter how much we love dogs.
