16 week old rescue. 1/4 Carolina dog, 1/4 Golden Retreiver, 1/2 Yellow Lab.
Still working on the house breaking. Wasn't looking for a puppy but the cuteness overwhelmed my better judgement, that and my Wife and Daughter said, "we'll take this one". I now thw lone male in an ocean of estrogen.

Go on, spoil her. It’s OK.

Handsome pup, good job on saving a rescue!

I feel you , brother. In my house, there's my wife, two daughters, two guinea pigs, both female, one clownfish, probably female, and me.

I ended up with a bunch of females, my golden is the only male. I call him the wiener dog.

I suggested Abby, as Abby, the daughter will be leaving for college soon. That way I don't have to learn a new name. Surprisingly, that did not fly with the Daughter.

The Daughter wanted Atticus, but I pointed out that it is a male name. The Wife suggested Sabrina to go along with the older dog named Samantha and since she paid the adoption fee, I felt that she had naming rights. So Sabrina it is.

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

There are never too many females in the house... :D;):D

I can't imagine not having a dog. That's a handsome pup you have there.
My golden is eight now, and a great companion.

Puppies are SOOOO much fun and SOOOOO much work!

Here is a link to my favorite online trainer. Lots of free training videos.

https://www.youtube.com/user/zakgeorge21/videos

Training is definitely key. I went to doggie school way back in the 80s with my first pup. They didn't train the pup, they trained me to train the pup. It only takes once if you can remember most of the important things you're taught.

The only bad part about girl dogs, in my experience anyway, is that they tend to be harder to housebreak than boy dogs. I've always taught my girl dogs to ring a bell that's tied in the doorknob of the door leading to the potty area. This is done by simply ringing it yourself every time you let her out to do her business. It doesn't take most of them very long to start ringing it themselves when they need to go.

Nice looking pup. Congrats!

We’re between dogs right now. Looking for another Doberman.

My wife just rescued a feral kitten she found in a parking lot. I’m trying to find a nice Chinese restaurant to adopt it.....

Yeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaah!!

Dogs rule!

Only sometimes. Our shop had a hangar cat for mouse patrol and she wouldn't take any crap from dogs no matter their size. She was a nine pound tabby, and as feisty as a Bobcat.

OTOH, she loved people. I always went to work an hour early so the boss and I could plan the day. She sat on my lap and purred the whole hour.

If that's the puppy I don't know if I want to see what she's going grow into. Big dog.

She is currently 21.8 pounds. The vet says she will end up 40-45 pounds, which will work. The older Lab is 56 lbs. I wanted something smaller but not too small.

Curious how you know that. Do you know the actual pedigree, or did you do one of those DNA tests? I've read those aren't very reliable. She looks alot like the 8 week old "lab" we got at the Humane Society that didn't grow up into anything like a lab.

Little dog. My Great Pyrenees is 150#. I don't really see her as big but people seeing her for the first time usually say woa that's a big dog. The only time it's a problem is when she wants to sit on my lap. Of course the badass in my pack is the 15# Yorkie.

Oh man, jealous!
Lost our pup half a year ago. Slowly starting to recover and accept the possibility that we might adopt another dog (without feeling guilty toward our last one).

Y'all's pictures hit the spot, gentlemen, keep 'em coming, please!

Lol. But you need to update your phraseology to line up and wait.
The whole point of the video was to prove how idiotic that phrase was...even my dogs looked at me like I was stoooooopid when I'd say "line up and wait!" ;)

The story goes, Tim was at some fly-in (gastons?) shortly after "position and hold" became "line up and wait" and I was telling someone how stoooopid that phrase is...and how even my dogs know it...that I had them trained like the video shows. "you need to post a video of that" someone said.

The thing is my story was complete BS. My dogs couldn't do that! (would Tim blow smoke while he's sitting around drinking beer with the boys? No...can't be...surely you jest)

But now my bluff was called.

What the dogs would do is "kennel up" then "hold" then they would be released all three at once with "okay."

It only took me three days to convert them to the new commands and film that. Smart dogs, especially the shepherd and boxer...labs are just smart enough to get by...but they're definitely the sweetest.

I was told by the rescue group.

I am sorry for your loss. This is one of the reasons for the new puppy. We have had the black Lab for 13 years and I love her but she is getting on in years. When her time comes I don't want to deal with an empty house. Plus I think that both the youngster and the oldster will mutually benefit from the relationship.

I really love big dogs. But they bring challenges . We like to travel and smaller dogs do that better. Our lab is 56 lbs. which is doable but sometimes when you need to pick her up to get in the boat or plane, I find myself wishing for a smaller dog.

I don't choose, it's whatever ends up in my care. Used to have five small ones, they could all fit on the front bench seat of my pickup with one in my lap. All dogs are cool, regardless of size but you're correct it's easier to just pick up a small one.

I truly believe that barring allergies, there's something suspect of someone that doesn't like dogs. Dogs are usually good scumbag detectors.

i.e. as my dad always said...

Never trust a man who won't pet your dog ~ Thomas W. Winters 1910-1987 (r.i.p. pops)

Might be some truth in that. My mom had an Akita that was getting on in years. She got another Akita that was a rescue dog about a year old. She did not trust anyone. But in a short time the older one taught the younger one how to use the doggie door and house trained her. She taught the young one when to bark and when not to bark, and what rooms she could not go in and to stay off the furniture. Within a couple months the younger one was just like the older one, calm, trusting and very protective of my mom and the property.

So, now you have a pet cow?
