Now this is a result I can live with, and even come to love:

http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...cf-knights-raise-national-championship-banner

I'd already decided I couldn't watch the upcoming GA-AL game. First of all, I'm a Ga Tech grad which would obligate me to root for AL. Mrs. Half Fast, though, is an Auburn grad which would obligate her to root for GA.

This is the road to divorce. Or dueling pistols.

Fortunately, we are also BOTH alumni of the University of Central Florida. So we can both relish UCF's national championship and ignore those two imposters competing in what will actually be nothing more than an SEC-playoff game Monday night.

And though my wife isn't too happy about UCF beating Auburn, we can take some solace in the fact that Auburn was the only team to defeat both Georgia and Alabama this season, giving UCF virtual victories over both. UCF's perfect season is impressive, and frankly I think the school's claim to the championship is stronger than the farce the playoff committee has created.

GO KNIGHTS!!

They’re undefeated - they did what they had to do. Hard to argue with that.

That said, I think it’s only a matter of time before they expand the field to 8 teams.

And not just undefeated. Consider...

GA and AL each had only one loss all season. To Auburn. And UCF beat Auburn.

Yet neither Auburn nor UCF went into the playoffs.

The championship playoff is a sick joke, with teams selected more on the basis of potential bowl ticket and advertising sales than actual performance.

Yep. That's how Bama got there . . . . They didn't even play in their own Conference Championship! :stirpot:

War Eagle!

Roll Tide!

That's all I got to say 'bout that!

You have revealed too much truth about college football. Expect to see a bunch of black Suburban's driving into your neighborhood....

Biased of course, but the Championship game last night was a thriller IMO. Bama finally put in the freshman QB in the 2nd half who can throw precision strikes and scramble like crazy, igniting the Bama defense. Overtime thriller and just happy Bama won it. Georgia played their ass off and I felt for them. But, the world needs losers too. Oh c'mon I'm kidding.

I was really impressed with the throws on both sides but that Alabama QB brought it home for them. Great player.

And he moved from Hawaii to Alabama. I would have loved to have seen his face for that one.

Yep, and both 'bama and the U (sic) of Ga lost to Auburn. And Auburn lost to the undefeated national champion UCF Knights. :)

Now let's see if those Alabama wusses are willing to take Camping World up on this:
"Camping World Stadium in Orlando, host of the Cure Bowl, Camping World Bowl, Citrus Bowl and soon the Under Armour All-America Game, offered up its services in case UCF wants to challenge the winner of Georgia and Alabama."

His younger brother, a Jr, is the QB for my towns HS football team, and he's as amazing as his older brother. They went something like 14-1, losing in the state playoffs to Hoover HS, who they beat in the regular season. The family moved from Hawaii to here, and I'm sure Alabama had nothing to do with that. ;)

Hey you forgot to write that Georgia then beat Auburn in the SEC Championship game when they played for a second time. How convenient!

Yeah Saban said he's cool with y'all claiming that. Whatever makes y'all feel good.

And if it makes Satan, er, Saban, feel better to consider an SEC playoff game to be a "national championship" and to enjoy his participation trophy, that's okay with us.

He does. In fact, he has 6 of them now, one with LSU, five with Bama, and counting. Meanwhile your coach is moving on to Nebraska.

GA and Bama were both ranked #1 when we beat them. We were still only #4 when we played GA the second time.

Still don't know, other than personal likes or potential ticket sales, how a team that wasn't even in their Conference Championship game made the playoffs ahead of teams who actually WON theirs . . . .

Since my school (UF Gators) took a football sabbatical this year, I declare myself as an unbiased observer.

UCF has a really good case and should be the Champs. (Mostly because the idea of giving credit to AL or GA is too painful).

Oh, yeah - regarding "Hey you forgot to write that Georgia then beat Auburn in the SEC Championship game when they played for a second time."

Total score over all 8 quarters of football:
Auburn 47
U (sic) of Ga 45

Auburn wins.

Waaaa. Thanks for playing.

LOL that thar must be AU fuzzy math. Auburn, stays home. Ga and Bama play for National Championship. Bama wins a tough game. Bama collects the bling. Yup. But, thanks for watching!

Auburn, stays home having already beaten both GA and AL, the only team to do so. Ga and Bama play for SEC Championship masquerading as a "national" championship. Bama wins a tough game. Bama collects the tainted bling.

FIFY

Good development though, "Mayhem" is back!

Wow. A bunch of old men going on and on about a game played by school kids.

Yeah, I'll own it too. I do all sorts of things that don't make logical sense.

Life would be pretty boring otherwise. :)

Thereby giving undefeated UCF the national championship.

Opinion puts the four teams into the playoffs, it's rigged to what the committee wants. Period.

Edit: Even though March madness is picked by a committee, it's much more fair. Even lowly #65 can be national champ once they're in the tourney, all they have to do is win out.

If the OP actually thinks the UCF Knights could stand up to the Crimson Tide he's been smoking something not on the FAA approved list. Congrats to Alabama.

As I recall, Auburn turned back the tide in the Iron Bowl, no?

UCF should have challenged Alabama today to a game to be played at a neutral site in two weeks. If AL accepted they would get a chance to prove they belonged or not and if AL tuned it down they could use it for marketing.
