Story of my life. I won't get in to the specifics of the latest want/can't have, but there are so many things. Can: Arrow. Can't: Gulfsteam. Can: Nevermind, this will start to get out of context.

Life would be pretty boring if you could have all that you want. Striving for something helps grow you, tests your patience and whether you'll "settle" for something less.

Unless it's about a girl... then ignore the above. :p

You dream of Gulfstream, I dream of an arrow.

Just be thankful you're not living on my C150 budget.

But I am thankful and proud of my little plane.....

I dream of great weather and cheap aviation costs.

but back to reality...

These chocolate dusted almonds that were in my stocking are pretty good.

sigh

I have enough stuff as it is. What would you do if you won the lottery? Me, I might put in better avionics in the Mooney, but that's about all I can think of.

actually in the history of mankind, this motivation for self improvement has worked out not bad.
yes, there is some pain in that we will never ever be completely happy with our lot in life.

Secrets to a Happy life:
1) Be happy with what you've got,
2) Get enough.

At ease.

You had it good
You want it better
You know
You know
You want it all
You want it all
All or nothing
You want it all
All or nothing
Nothing
Nothing
NOTHING!

Seriously, what you want with a Gulfstream? The more you have, the more you have to take care of, and those things you own wind up owning you.

By the way ...

Behavioral Economists have proven people want “free” much more than they want “actual value” in multiple blind tests.

An example is in Freakonomics but there’s much more academic study that’s been published since that book came out.

So “what you want” is often manipulated by changing the perceived opportunity cost lost to obtain it.

“Buy one get one free!”

Etc.

My favorite is the car dealer who always says he’s having “inventory equalization sales”. LOL. WTF does that even mean?! Sounds important though. Haha.

man, i think i want more stuff, but when i look at the things in my life that need my attention, i don't know what i'm thinking
- kids that need more attention
- house that needs lots of fixin' (furnace, roof, bad breaker, yadda)
- other houses that need fixin'
- utility trailer that needs bearings
- travel trailer that needs bearings
- wife's car that needs an oil change and a new cabin air filter
- my car that needs (apparently) a crank position sensor and a cabin air filter
yadda
why is it that I want a 50 year old plane?? :)

i would immediately stop paid work for both of us and come up with a lot more fun way to spend my days, even if it involved fixing all of the stuff on my list. i could fix it all with the kids, so it counts for double.

The family had to sell off the “Capitalist Tool” a long time ago. :)

The same goes for a huge stake in the magazine (of which U2’s Bono was the major shareholder in the investors) in 2006 for a price that by 2009 was twice as much as the magazine was worth.

Isn't the second one so true. I don't know how you guys with 20+ year marriages function. 'Stuff' stops after about five years.

Hell try 45+! But then she'd say the same thing about me lol. And, nothing stopped after 5 years either. She's a good one.

I got lucky. Mine likes flying and likes ME going flying. She even likes most of the pilots we meet.

Kinda hard to complain about any of that.

She likes shoes. Not quite Emelda Marcos numbers of shoes but to me, a lot of shoes.

I spend a lot more on airplanes than she spends on shoes, so it’s still all good.
