Florida Pilot having a bad day.

No excuse for that- Trump's been there enough that the TFR could be semi-permanent. It's also been all over the news too that he's down there.
Still, someone was quick about getting an F-16 to intercept. Only 1 mile into the TFR and the pilot got diverted.

Makes for an unpleasant experience to sat the least.

Gotta call FSS.

Really?! For violating it by one mile? I would go with GPS error if I was him. I skirted it a day ago, I got close and figured I had some margin if I crossed it...guess not?

There is zero margin... I would add at least a few miles to whatever is described in the NOTAM.

Using GPS error as an excuse won't be an acceptable defense.

Ya, there’s zero margin. Plus “GPS error” is not an excuse.

I’m pretty sure that 99.9% of people know that he was intending to be funny and that the same percentage think that he succeeded.
Really?? I’ll take that bet. I have several likes already on my response. If that’s the 0.01%, I guess nearly 10,000 people have already read this.

lol...wow. Junior high? Your life is based on "likes"? Holy crap you are immature.

Listen, I'm not trying to pick a fight, just asking you to move on if you don't care for something. My grandpa passed a few days ago and I'm sick as a dog and I got a lot of stuff on my mind. Just trying a little humor here, and it's my style of humor. I don't care if you don't like it, or others don't like it. Grow up.

When you can’t win an arguement, name calling saves the day.

I say cut the guy some slack, those TFRs are a game of whac a mole anyways. As to the Makos getting diverted to chase that guy, they probably welcomed it. Those O-5s can't find any better excuse to knock it off on them DBFM sortie beans they've been pushing off all semi-annual. Trying to make it to 20 without having to get wheel-chaired to the kid's high school graduation....:D

How much slack? And how many guys do you forgive at once??

It’s like busting minimums. Sometimes the tolerance is ZERO.
Truly not sure how you could run things any other way.
Now, punishment is a different story. The harshness truly should depend upon attitude of offender.

Would not the “harshness” of the penalty be construed as “slack” which could be cut? Come on, man, stop arguing with everyone about everything. (That would require you to “cool out.”)

Huh??? You clearly don’t know how the system works. There are two phases. 1) the violation process, and 2) the penalty process.
That’s why you can file an ASRS report if you bust an altitude, get violated, but penalty may be suspended. You still have a violation on your record, but the penalty can vary greatly.

I only agree with with people when I think they are unreasonable.
I also disagree with people but don’t feel I argue that point, but rather talk about it and possibly debate it.
Reasonable people can disagree.

The penalty can vary = cutting the guy some slack. Or do you want to argue about that, too? You’re the dude who said “tolerance is ZERO” and then said “(t)he harshness truly should depend upon the attitude of the offender.” There’s your slack.

Exactly. Tolerance is zero for the offense, but penalty can, and should, vary depending upon circumstances.
Not sure what part of that you don’t understand.

Correct, I meant slack very much in the sense of "effectively" overlooking the so-called penalty phase.

See above.

I've never understood why humans are obsessed with "attitude" when it comes to punishment. The deed is done, and anybody can feign contrition. The only thing that matters imo is the stock the one doling out the punishment feels about the entire thing. These TFR outer rings are a great example of the prevalence of self-importance in the law enforcement ranks. If one needs their ego fed by having the guilty kneel and kiss one's ring, I'd say one needs a round of therapy or two. Says a lot about those who savor the thought of and flock to law enforcement work.

Same reason there’s a difference between murder 1, murder 2, manslaughter, and lessor manslaughter charges. There is a difference depending on circumstances.

I agree, no excuse for TFR bust. And 1 mile in aviation is massive

What is the purpose of punishment in your mind? If the purpose is revenge then sure, attitude shouldn’t make any difference.

If however punishment is meant to prevent the offense from re-occurring, then it makes a big difference if the offense was a result of mistake, negligence or deliberate action. But since those would be hard to differentiate for a first time offense, attitude becomes the next best measurable thing.

Frd
If flying an approach yes, if flying in severe clear around the countryside just enjoying flying, no.
wrong.

Should everyone go back to PPL training and redo check rides???
