IFR Training Starts Next Weekend!

Are those terms defined in that way in the FARs? I didn’t find where they were.
An LPV has its own category called an Approach with Vertical Guidance (APV). It’s not a precision or non precision approach.

From the AIM:

“Approach with Vertical Guidance (APV). An instrument approach based on a navigation system that is not required to meet the precision approach standards of ICAO Annex 10 but provides course and glidepath deviation information. For example, Baro-VNAV, LDA with glidepath, LNAV/VNAV and LPV are APV approaches.”

Got the instrument written out of the way in July and passed with a 93%. Now onto the flying part! Probably going to fly 3-5 days a week and really knock it out. Doing it in my Cherokee 140 so no GPS unfortunately.
You're doing it the right way. Good luck.

Yo @CC268 , how are you progressing? You have a pirep?

Going good...it’s been a hell of an adventure to say the least. I was gonna write up a report once I was done. I got 6 more hours of hood time and some checkride prep and I’ll be good to go. Got my IFR cross country with the three approaches done yesterday. That was an adventure unto itself. I had to do it in a 172 that had DME because I can’t do the three approaches in my airplane unless I went out of state or bet my luck on getting the LOC 30C at Gateway. I’ve realized that a IFR GPS or at least DME is almost a necessity around here in Arizona. I’m very limited with my airplane.

I’ve had a ton of set backs with my airplane unfortunately and been down for several weeks at a time. We’ve had to replace the attitude indicator, the VOR/LOC (which was a fiasco because the avionics company sent out a broken one the first time), the fuel pressure gauge broke (although not required), replaced the analog clock with a digital clock, and then just this past week my top VOR/ILS broke. We’ve had some bad luck to say the least. In fact I think we have averaged a few flights before something has broken. It’s been incredibly frustrating.

Should have a decent panel then by the time you're finished! I kid! Glad your training going well, other than the plane problems.

@CC268 Setbacks are frustrating, but glad you are pushing through.. I just wanted to check in with you, I/we haven't heard from you.. Thanks for the PiREP
