Not enough space on ipad(2) for FF briefing.
Messages taking up 6gb (32gb ipad)

How to erase messages on ipad (or allocate messages less space)?
(Without erasing them off linked iphone)

Try...

Settings>General>iPad Storage

Scroll down to Messages. May take a while to calculate.

Click on it to see options. One such is “Review Large Attachments”. You can swipe the data hogs away, as you can in Conversations.

See if that helps.

Don’t think that should affect data stored elsewhere, but not 100% sure on that.

Settings>General>iPad Storage
Scroll down to Messages.

Mine is:
Settings->General>Storage & icloud usage> Messages 6.1gb>Messages> Saved Messages 6.1gb

Click on it to see options. One such is “Review Large Attachments”. You can swipe the data hogs away, as you can in Conversations.

It is not a clickable item; there are no options.

Thanks
How do I stop it from saving messages?
Let me guess, I can't. But if I buy icloud space, I can solve the problem. Or, buy a new ipad.

Did you say linked iPhone?
You will probably want to unlink that to stop the messages.
Do a google search to find a step by step process.
After that, you should be able to delete them.

If you cloose a 32g iPad for flight app use you’d be wise to un-link it and ditch much of the stored stuff. Or, buy a bigger memory iPad. Mine is 256g and I have to delete stuff regularly. The newest iPads offer 512g.
