What's your favorite Christmas movie?

I watched die hard last night. I could watch it again tonight.

Years ago I saw "A Midnight Clear". Battle of the Bulge, Christmas. Not a feel good movie, but I liked it. I might have to see it again some day to see if I still think it's as good this time around.

Ooooh I forgot "Gremlins"

Nauga,
who feeds them after midnight

My point being that I've heard many people use the word "racist" in the wrong context but you're right, you can't teach them anything.

At least they didn't say "racialistic."

Or my other all time favorite "that's just ignorant to me."

We need to be able to "like" something multiple times. Totally forgot about Gremlins! Good call Nauga.

OkieFlyer,
Who's whistling the mogwai tune

Home Alone
Die Hard
Charlie Brown Christmas
Christmas Story
Christmas Vacation

Those are the biggies for me!

As much as I love the old classics like Miracle on 34th street I have to say my favorite is Christmas Story. I never tire of it. "The old man's eyes boggled; overcome by art." Too funny!!! "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuudge." There are just so many gems in that movie.

I'll roll with it's a wonderful life as well and doesn't hurt that Donna reed was nice looking woman.

Yeah, beautiful. A cross between Princess Grace and Natalie Portman.

Jimmy Stewart shows a pretty incredible range of acting, and extra points for his WWII aviation heroics, including flying B-24s into Nazi-occupied Europe.

And when George Bailey finds Zuzu's petals in his pocket, realizing he's still alive on that Bedford Falls bridge? One of the most poignant, heart-wrenching scenes in all of of cinema.

None of that is apparent in Christmas Story which is alternated each year by It's a Wonderful Life. This year it's IAWL.
Man, that Gloria Grahame was a hot ticket....

Nobody’s mentioned the William S. Burroughs masterpiece re-made in claymation and read by the author himself? ;)

Not a Christmas movie but I’m watching Band of Brothers. Watch it every year during Christmas. Makes me feel truly fortunate for what I have and the fact I’ve never had to endure what those gentlemen went through.

I've got the DVD set. Still in plastic. But if I'm ever flipping through the channels and stumble on it playing I'm not moving until the series has finished. Sometimes that's not for another 6-8 hours. There's no telling how many times I've seen it.

I'm not sure how it's possible to have so many favorite scenes, but I do. When Bull gets separated and they go back to get him. The opening scene of Winters running solo with his rifle. I cringe every time they start the small fire at Bastogne.

I'll take the plastic off when I get home tonight.

Lol! I was just thinking of favorite scenes last night. Mine was in the episode I was watching. Lt Speirs runs through a hail of fire untouched. Dick Winters talks of Speirs in his book. Despite the allegations of killing POWs, he highly respected Speirs.

Used to have the DVD version. Got Blu-ray now.

Winters, as they're getting ready to go into Bastogne, when he's warned that they're going to be surrounded.

"We're paratroopers....we're SUPPOSED to be surrounded....."

Also enjoy Jimmy Fallon's cameo in the same scene.

I'm surprised Lethal Weapon didn't make anyone's list. Remember the Christmas tree lot scene?

My wife and her father have an interesting holiday tradition. They watch The Godfather on thanksgiving and The Godfather part II on Christmas. We were a few days off and watched part II last night.

Understandable if your wife is Italian. Is she?
