Kentucky Dam PoA fly-in... (M34 Apr 26-29) who's coming?

Anyone been to M34? Do they have tie down ropes and/or rings on the concrete parking area?
M34 "used to" have tie down ropes/rings...it was showing some neglect when I went there last spring. I used my own ropes, and had to dig out a couple of tie downs. There aren't many (maybe enough for 6 planes or so, and parking is mega-tight). If you had a way to anchor in the ground, there are lots of grass parking spots.

nope. but I've been in touch with the manager, gave him a high level of what's going on. as we get closer I'll try to get him an approximate # of planes and make sure they can accommodate us. if 6er brings his yellow X, we should be good to go.

Since I couldn't make GMU, I want to do this one. Almost certainly could take at least a couple from Atlanta area if anyone wanted. However, parking on grass could be problematic.

I just checked the Dam fly-in rule book and it says concrete parking is reserved for twins first. We'll be okay. ;)

Still a ways out for me to know for sure, but I’d like to make it.

you better..

Just for gits and shiggles...here is a picture I took in August of this year while I was sitting waiting to sober up a little before takeoff. Shows a bit of the tie down area, and of course there's google for the rest.

Brilliant foresight. Gaston's grass was rock hard, but even with a lot of us pulling 6,500# of airplane out of a sink hole would not be fun.

And as a bit of thread drift (no pun intended) , here's me taxiing for take off Saturday rather than enjoying the camaraderie at GMU.

What's there? Food or do I have to bring MREs?

We'll be staying at the hotel. I assume overpriced low quality "food" will be available.

Holy****! That's what it looked like when I ignored myself on the forum.

There might be more truth to that than you know. There are some dry counties in that immediate area (I'm pretty sure the exit for patti's 1880's settlement is dry) so it's something that needs to be checked into!!

thanks for volunteering, my good man!

Is there a significance to this place and date? Is there a restaurant here or boobs.... what am I missing here?

Eman and I wanted to meet.
We asked where is the best place between us to meet.

Other folks picked this place.
He and I are simple people so we said "let's do it"

Put me down for a tentative. Worst case, I can drive over and bring beer.

Hopefully 6pc will bring some Dream crusher for us.

Unless life gets in the way, I’m putting it on our calendar.

Probably plan on an overnight rather than worry about a 2 1/2 hour flight home on the same day. Will have to consider weather and logistics as the date approaches.

Eddie, I think the plan is to make it a weekend thing, like Gastons. Bryan, Eman, correct?

yes, most likely: 1 day travel, 1 night heavy drinking, 3 days of recovery, 1 day travel. give or take a day for your personal tolerance/recovery.

He'd have to make some M34. 3M0 is only available in Arkansas.

And IIRC, it wasn't his guitar, it was the doctors.

Can @OkieFlyer bring some of his home brew? That stuff was pretty tasty at Gaston's.

Edit: and his guitar! Pretty sure @SixPapaCharlie would agree

If I can make the fly-in, I will definitely make a new brew. Mike Three Four doesn't have the same ring to it as Three Mike Zero. I'll have to come up with a better name.

Ravioli is right, it was the Doc's guitar, but I will bring my own this time. Perhaps I'll practice a little before this gatherin'. I would hate to see just how terrible my singing was at Gaston's. I know 6PC got some video, but he assured me that it no longer exists. Heck, I don't care. I had fun whether it sounded like two whales humping or not.
