I received an email from Garmin that says a software update is out for my Garmin GTX 345 Transponder and Flight Stream 210.

Does anyone know how to do this or does it require a Dealer to update my equipment?

I think there's a whole other thread on it, that one might answer this question.

If you are not flying a homebuilt there is no DIY path on software updates.

You have to go to an avionics shop to have this done, and yes, they will charge you for their time. I think Garmin prescribes a certain amount of time that they are allowed to charge you for. It's crap really. I've watched how it is done for my Flight Stream 510, my GTN650, and my GTX 345...it's easily accomplished. Nothing really too different than updating the database on your GPS (which Garmin graciously allows us to do /sarcasm).

The GTX-345 SW update is only for TSO approved, and not part 23 certified. I was told maybe in a couple of months for certified versions.

What functional change might a user notice with this software update?
