Just curious. How does the ignore function work on this site? Does it make it so that the specific user you ignore can't see your posts and you can't see his?

No, just so you can't see posts or threads started by them. There is a little red note at the bottom of threads that says you are not reading all the responses because you are ignoring some people.

Ignore is great. I put a few people on ignore for a few months until I get over it, then unignored them. Most of the time it was my own "weenie-ness" that I solved by ignoring, and you just forget about it, as it really was no big deal in the grand scheme of life (jerks will be jerks, the only thing I can control is my reaction or lack thereof).

Ignore is the best way to keep enjoying forums like this.

If I don't react or respond, it's either because I'm super disciplined or have you on ignore, lol. For the record, none of you azzhats are currently on ignore.:D

Thanks for the response. Never had anyone on Ignore, but was curious how the feature worked.

Don't use it, want to continue seeing the azzhat make a fool out of their self.

Lol this is very serious business

Just remember that you can still see the post of someone you have on ignore,
if someone else quotes them.

Yea, I think I only had to use it once on that Horse? guy. Recently deleted that ignore as that one has moved on.

For extra credit you can be like ___ _______ and post your ignore list.

Everyone enjoyed it. Well, except for moderators.

Also, if/when you do start using ignore, don't like, quote, or reply to the person you are ignoring. The software will let you, but then they get the gratification that goes with:

When you put people on ignore, your missing a good bit of entertainment.

Using the “Thread Tools” to ignore idiotic threads helps streamline things as well.
I hadn't noticed that one, I might have to use that on that urinal trough thread.

Funny, I had just used it on that thread right before I posted to this one!
Cool, I just used it on that motorhome one that is very popular for some reason. It'd be nice if you could ignore it without having to open it, and adding to the view count(even though you don't want to view it). Its almost too much work to ignore a thread. I guess it depends on how annoying it gets.(popping up over and over on the recent list)

Blasphemy! That’s the best thread on PoA right now!

If they quote using the forum functionality, the system will cut our the quoted portion. All you see is the answer. If they quote using cut+paste you are stuck seeing the quoted part.

I didn't know that. I haven't used the ignore function in many years.

I use that function quite a bit. I don’t have anyone personally on ignore but I have ignored countless threads. I just ignore threads in New Posts as that is where I spend all of my time. If I don’t care for the subject or have grown tired of a particular thread, it goes on ignore. Simple. Makes it so much easier.

I haven't ignored a member in a while either.

But I just looked and over the years my ignore list grew to nine members.

Interestingly, all have either been banned or gone inactive.

Not on this software. At least not for me. The one poster I have on ignore no longer exists as far as I can tell. Even if they are quoted by someone else

As I said, I didn't know that because I haven used ignore for years.

Isn’t the ignore function kind of like a “safe space”? I won’t participate, I’m fully capable of disregarding someone’s comments even though I’ve been exposed to them.

Unlike this gal:

That was true in the old software but it not true in this software. If you ignore someone you won't see anything they post or other's quotes of them. In fact, you won't see entire threads if they start them. (Oops, I see Tarheel beat me to it).

I used to have a few people on ignore...I don't any longer. But I might have to place one special little sawed-off individual back on that special list.

I use that function daily. It's handy. I still don't understand the three boxes that one needs to check when using it though.

Ignore this thread on...
  • News Feed
  • New Posts
  • Thread List

Duhhhh...why would I want to ignore a thread but not ignore those things? Am I missing something?

Taking something personally there, are ya? Hmmm.. good that you have your forms at the ready.

Not at all, but I've been seeing you taking regular little jabs at me for a couple of months now since I've had you off of ignore. You seem to not be able to let it go. Such a pity (or is it petty?).

So you missed 10 months of them. Sorry to hear that.

Depends on whom u want to ignore. If u don't see this, I will consider myself ignored
