As a VFR pilot, new to ForeFlight, I’m a bit confused as to which FF service I need to buy.
Does the moving map, with the gps tracking of MY airplane (not traffic around me) come with the $99.99 plan?
Or do I have to move up to the $199 Pro plan for that?
Also, the centerline & traffic pattern features, are they on the Basic plan or only on the Pro plans?

Thanks y’all.

The $99.00 Basic Plus will do the moving Map and show your "ownship" on the map as long as you have a GPS source, either internal to the iPad because you have a Cell Data iPad, or external an GPS source such as a Stratus, BadElf, of similar.

The $99.00 Basic does have the extended centerline and traffic pattern features.

So start with that level, get used to the program, and get more flying done to expand your aviation skills. Once you have need of the additional features, you can upgrade at that time.

Or just use FltPanGo for free.

@Clark1961 “FltPanGo” sounds like a re-enactment of when my wife found out about my girlfriend.
Kidding. Kidding.

It all depends on how she found out. If you whisper "this is how my girlfriend like it" during an intimate moment it could be a terminal flt.

Bear in mind that the basic version does not provide geo-referenced taxi diagrams. That shows you where your own ship is on the taxi diagram. Very useful in the more complicated airports. When we flew strictly VFR, we purchased the pro version just for that feature. Of course, if you start with the basic version, you can always upgrade at any time with little penalty. (I say WE because my wife is the licensed pilot, with a valid medical, in our family).

Thanks @JOhnH.
I understood that part, just not the “ownship” part during flight.
I don’t go to busy airports, so I think I’ll start with the $99 version & go from there.
Thanks again.

Avare is also free moving map and for VFR flying is pretty feature rich. Only runs on android though.

If your flying VFR,the basic plan is fine, but fltplango, for free would probably fit your needs.

VFR flying only? FLTPLAN Go is your best option.

No need to pay for Foreflight or FlyQ. Or garmin pilot for that matter.

Buy avgas with the savings.

Even for IFR FltPlan Go is the most economic option. While Foreflight and Garmin Pilot offer extra features

WingX VFR is 99 cents
