Neither my iPhone 7 nor my iPad Pro will hold a WiFi connection long enough to update my iFly software. Has anyone else experienced this?

They're kinda useless since they're not heavy enough to use as boat anchors. :mad:
 
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

Ok but seriously have you? Also I'd take a look at your wifi signal, are you far away from the AP? Any interference in the area? Try a different channel or if you have a 5ghz option on your router try that.
 
You can also try to delete the WiFi connection, and set it back up again on your devices. But given both devices aren’t able to maintain the WiFi connection, i think Cowman is onto something. It could be a router issue. Try to restart the router and see if you can connect.
 
Could be some attenuation or interference in your environment. It is most likely your WiFi signal, if two devices are having the same issue. Have you tried it down at your local Starbucks?
 
I was in La Jolla for Thanksgiving week. One day I jumped in the pool, only to discover that my Iphone 6 was in my pocket. Yep, it is now Toast! Darn Apple... (This was clearly Apple's fault....)

Yes I know the new one is waterproof. Won't get one that pricey. I got an iPhone 8. Still "moving in" to it, just about done.

While I am on the subject, is there any value in a non-functional, water-logged iPhone 6?

I presume there are WiFi scanners and related diagnostic apps for iThings. There are bazillions of them for Androids (and even a few for BlackBerry). Downloading one may help you diagnose your issue.

Is your network name hidden? Apple won't support hidden network names anymore. That's why I switched my phone to andriod. I'd ditch the iPad too but aviation apps on android are kind of sucky.

As far as I'm aware, Apple still fully supports hidden SSIDs.

As John mentioned, there's really not much of a security reason to hide the SSID.

The hour I spent with Apple tech support says otherwise. Anyway, just offering a suggestion not trying to hijack the thread.

I suspect, then, that there was a misunderstanding between the parties. In either macOS or iOS, hidden networks are easily configured in network settings of the device(s). Select "Join Other Network..." and enter the hidden network name.

There is essentially zero security provided by hidden SSIDs. They are easily discovered by snooping, and can be discovered by snooping communication from clients configured to auto-connect to hidden networks even when you're out in public.
