We're in, but have a familiar foe in Clemson the first round. I think it'll end up in the final between Clemson and Oklahoma, but it is college football so who knows.

Feel for OSU, they probably should be in too. We need to go with 8 teams!

If I cared, I’d be pulling for the southeast team.

:D

Well, there's two of 'em, GA and Bama (from the REAL Southeast), plus Clemson (being y'all consider that the Southeast:)), so three teams for your selection 'Dog!

First Round: Bama vs Clemson, OK vs GA

Winners of each of the games then play for the National Championship.

RTR!

The way I see it if Alabama wasn’t better than Auburn a week ago they probably still aren’t this week so they don’t deserve the spot in the final four. A team can lose and then prove that they deserve to be ranked above the team that beat them but I don’t see how they can demonstrate they are better than their last loss if they don’t play another game.

However as a Clemson fan it really doesn’t matter to me, those Tigers are ready to beat whoever lines up on the other side of the ball.

Please, if there is a God, don't let the Dawg's win!

one who's wreck has rambled too far off the damn road this year.
What's the good word?
To HELL with Georgia.

That's why we need 8 teams in a playoff. SoCal pretty damn good too. Yeah Clemson looked good last night and most of the year. But they have a loss, just like Bama.

An 8 team playoff would be much better than what we have now, but I'd much rather see at least 16 teams, and I'd even push for double elimination. Of course, in football, that would practically take as long as a whole season.

Is that a yellowjacket I hear buzzing around here? :)

I'd feel for them more if they hadn't gotten destroyed by Iowa.

Then #9 would be upset.

The committee is working hard to get a GA/AL matchup for the national title.

Fine by me! But I don't believe that's the case. Right now I feel the final will be OK and Clemson, with OK winning it all.

We need to go with 8 teams

Or maybe the top 126 top teams....

And have the Last Chance bowl for the 2 worst teams in the nation...

I would like to see pee wee football televised instead....

If that happens, my wife (Auburn) and I (Ga Tech) will be hoping they both lose.

Hey, JOhnH - how 'bout them dawgs? :)

That spot should go to the Bucks, but most of the folks who decide these things come from down South. The one time we played ‘Bama we kicked their ass hard. Wouldn’t mind another shot at Clemson. Oh well, next year.

You know what they say:
TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!

I can't imagine pulling for Alabama, but in that case, I might have to.

Who are the bucks? Do they have a football team?

They've played 4 times, and Bama has won three games to OSU one game. OSU 42 Bama 35 is hardly kicking Bama's ass.

Don't forget that latest one we did with our 3rd string quarterback. :p

Seriously, I'm OK with the ones that got in this year. Iowa spanked OSU this season. Coming on the heels of the best game of Barrett's career vs Penn State, it cost them a chance. Hey we got the BT conference championship & Michigan 4 in a row - I'll take that to the bank and may the best team win.

Yeah 3 great QBs, that was crazy. Any of them probably would've started at other schools. OSU was fortunate to hold onto them. Bama has QBs that leave for other schools if they lose the starting job, I think 1 or 2 left this year or last. One started at FL this year, Del Rio.

Roll Tide!

That's literally the most sense you're ever made. Boomer Sooner!

That said, I think it'll be OU/Bama in the big show. Call me crazy, but I got a feelin' the Tide is gonna roll against Clemson. I threw up in my mouth a little when I typed that.

That could happen, especially if Bama gets their LBs healthy and Hurts gets better at throwing.
But, like they, that's why they play the game. Should be a great playoff series this year.

I hear this a lot, so I decided to look.

The selection committee is as follows:
Kirby Hocutt - Texas Tech
Jeff Bower - Southern Miss
Frank Beamer - Virginia Tech
Herb Deromedi - Central Michigan
Chris Howard - Robert Morris
Tom Jernstedt - Oregon
Bobby Johnson - Vandy
Jeff Long - Arkansas
Bob Mullens - Oregon
Gene Smith - Ohio State, Notre Dame
Tyrone Willingham - Wash, Notre Dame, Stanford
Steve Weiberg - USA Today, alma mater MIZZOU

I see no reason to suspect SEC bias based on the committee members' school affiliations. Two out of twelve are connected to the SEC. Three if you count the USA Today guy that is a Missouri grad.

Facts are facts. Even two ex OSU players, Herbstreit and Galloway, both have stated on ESPN that they feel Bama is the better team when compared to OSU and were right to be picked over OSU.

Sure, send the team that decisively lost their Conference championship game instead of another team who won theirs . . . . . Gotta watch the feelings of the poor Bama team, don't want them to feel bad for losing out at the end of the season . . .

Just like last year, I'll be pulling hard for the orange Tigers!

"To hell with Georgia!"
"My two favorite teams are Auburn and whoever's playing Alabama."

Conference Championship team is Georgia and they're in. Bama didn't play in the Conference Championship game this year. That other team from Alabama did and got spanked though.

This is about the 4 best teams selected by a committee. Sorry, they felt Bama was 4th best. Roll Tide! Haters Gonna Hate!

I'm far from a Buckeye fan, but they won their Big Conference while Bama didn't even get to play for theirs (my misreference above), and if I recall, both teams have the same overall record (OSU has an extra win from the Conference Championship) and equally weak schedules . . .

I literally HATE Bama, but I agree.

Don't get me wrong, I think OSU, USC, Bama, and even Wisconsin after losing the Big 10 championship could make a case for being in the playoff. However, I think when you weigh everything out, you wind up with a toss up. If it's a toss up, the team with one loss to #6 ranked bitter rival, and has won 4 of the last 8 national championships, from the conference that has won 10 of the last 20 national championships and 8 of the last 11, is likely to get the nod every time.

Clemson - 1 loss to an unranked 4-8 Syracuse
Oklahoma - 1 loss to an unranked 7-5 Iowa State
Georgia - 1 loss to #10 Auburn
Alabama - 1 loss to #6 Auburn
Ohio State - 2 losses. Routed by unranked 7-5 Iowa. Soundly beaten by #5 Okla
Wisconsin - 1 loss to #8 Ohio State in a tight game
Southern Cal - 2 losses. 1 loss to #16 Wash St. 1 Loss to #13 Notre Dame

In my opinion, there is nothing that makes any of these teams really shoe-in material for the playoff. I 100% agree with the top 3 based on only having 1 loss and having all won major conferences, but the 4th spot is a total toss up in my opinion. Neither of the two 1 loss teams won their conference, but the two 2 loss teams did. The only thing that really stands out to me as a tie breaker is OSU's head to head win over Wis. So now you're down to two 2 loss conference champs, and a 1 loss non conference champ that is a perennial power house. If I had to put money on OSU, USC, or Bama, I'd put it on Bama in a heart beat.

Just my $.02

Again, doesn't matter if you win a conference, they pick the 4 best teams. OSU lost twice, slammed by Iowa in one of them, Bama lost once.

Alabama is the only team to be selected every year since the playoffs began.

This time, you can thank Iowa for that. If unranked Iowa had not blown away OSU in Iowa City, the committee would have chosen OSU.

tOSU is probably wishing they had played Mercer and that Bama had played OU for their OOC game.
