Perfect day for flying, overcast, 66 American degrees, calm wind. Day off so I slept in till 7 am. Got out of bed and on the way to the kitchen I stepped in cat puke. Oh yeah, full on with the squishing in between the toes and it was deposited last night or early in the morning because it was nice and cold. So back to the shower with that heel down, toes up walk to not get it all over the place. Take that awful shower and return to the coffee maker - reservoir out of water (yeah not a big deal but its adding up)

I drive to the gas station to fill up the truck. The credit card with the 3% cash back on gas purchases was declined. WTF? Call the wife, she tells me that she cancelled it last night because someone in Algeria had used it to update their PlayStation account. I use another one to fill up and drive next door to the car wash. I want to buy the monthly plan so I can just wash it when I want to, even every day if I want. I want the military discount they have so I drive in the lane that has the human teller. As I was turning the corner to line up in the lane, some guy comes out of the building and places cones in the lane because he has to work on the ATM type machine for the wash. I park and go up to the guy and he takes care of the monthly plan. I pay, get the special sticker and drive through the wash.

Afterwards I decide to vacuum it out and discover that while I was gone to New York on my deer hunting trip, my wife had drove my truck with her stupid long haired Chihuahua on the floor - black carpet so all the hair shows.

Drive on to the hangar and realized that the keys to the hangar were still on my dresser at home. I decided today isn't my day to fly, so now I'm back home typing this all out and deciding whether or not to start drinking this early in the afternoon.

I would join you, but I am not allowed to drink right now....

Or I may have to go out and rake up the dog doo....

It’s gonna take more than one enjoy.

That sucks. I'd say it's have a drink time. I would be prone to make the same key mistake so I have the hangar/airplane key attached with my truck keys.

Bottoms up.

I'm already ahead on the drinking part. -Someone- (not me) thought it would be a smashing idea to cook fish in the crock pot. I'm not quite there yet but give it an hour, and it probably won't make any difference anyway.

LOL crock pot?! More like a 'mashing' idea.

Been there, done that except the hangar has always had a combo lock and the cat died years ago.

Cheers

Again, first world problems. But a few weeks ago I did an open-track day at Auto Club Speedway, the second day on a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE71R tires that I've had for a month. When I get home from the track, I check the pressures, and when I put a little side load on the valve stem on the right front, it starts leaking from the base. pssssssss! Great! So I jack up the car, take off the wheel, and take it to the shop that just mounted the tire 4 weeks ago. Of course I said, "No hurry" so it was ready for pickup two days later.

Ah, done at last! Put it on the car, snug the lug nuts, take it off the jackstands, fully torque, then test drive. Life is good!

Until I check the pressures, and find the same problem on the right rear!! Groundhog day...the same routine over again.

Got the tires and valve stems/TPMS sensors from Tire Rack....must have just gotten a bad batch.

You get up at 7 am on your day off?!? :yikes:

Worse than that. I drove to ATL first day of the month (2 hr drive) to duty-in for a trip and having failed to check my final schedule, I was off. :(

I feel your pain. I keep a set of keys to my hangar and airplane in the ashtray of my SUV and another set in the ashtray of my Vette. I bought a new truck the week of Thanksgiving. I drove to the airport (19 miles) and didn't even think about hangar keys until I went to get out of the truck. I had to drive all the way back home to get another set. I now have airport keys in all of my vehicles.

I had a friend at work that was going to a family reunion one weekend. He stoped at a local gas station to fill up but for some reason he left the car running. When he exited the vehicle his excited dog jumped up to the window and locked the door. So now he has a running car with a dog locked inside. He had to call a locksmith to get the door open for him. The car eventually runs out of gas while waiting on the locksmith. While the dog is locked in the car during the long wait he craps all over the car. They finally get the door unlocked and he buys gas but has to return home to clean up the dog crap. He finally gets on the road to go out of town to the reunion an hour or two late. When he gets to the reunion there is nobody there. It was the wrong weekend for the reunion!!! True story. :). There were a couple more amusing wrinkles to the story, but it has been so long ago that I have forgotten those details. When he was telling the story at work we were all in histerics and tears we were laughing so hard. So when you feel like you have had ONE OF THOSE DAYS, just remember my buddys ordeal and get a laugh.

Now that is an example of a shetty day. Get outa here with your lame story @Timbeck2 ! :D

I keep a lock box on the hangar door handle so I can always get in!

Would your friend be willing to sell rights to the story?

That's a good way to go, and I like Mick's idea of keeping an extra key in the car too. My airport requires that we leave an extra key at the office, but that's of little help after the office closes!

Locking your car/house keys inside the hangar is something you do once; I'm always checking for them now before I snap the padlock closed!

Probably so. I just wish I could remember the other little tid bits that played into the story. It was crazy. I always get a chuckle when I think about his ordeal.
