Everything Offends Me
My kid is really getting excited to start flying now. He’s only 5, so obviously the time won’t mean anything officially.

Any recommendations on a logbook that I can use for him to log time? I can get him a normal logbook but something that is geared toward kids or passengers would be a better choice methinks.

Have him create his own, personal logbook. Print off some Excel spread sheet with big rows and columns for date, airplane, N number, "co pilot" and notes. Take a photo of each airplane, post it in the logbook.

I would just get him a real logbook even if its just to monkey around with. A basic one from Sporty's is like $12 and it might wow him that he's writing time in the real deal. It would be a cheap thing to keep that excitement going.

This is a great idea! My girlfriend's youngest (age 8) loves to fly with me, and he can't get enough of aviation. He has my old sectionals taped up on his room walls, and he studies where we go. I'm gonna have to make up some sort of log book now.

Funny you asked, I just bought a logbook for my 8 yo grandson. I took him up when he was 4 or 5 yo. I have his flights in my logbook so it'll be easy to get his up to date. And, I'm a CFI so I can log it for him. Did similar for my own son who went on to get his PPC, and I was his CFI, which was very enjoyable.

You still can log the flights you do together without being a CFI. They just won't count towards a rating or total time.

Young Eagle log book, if you need one let me know.

Get him a young eagles log book. From any local Eaa chapter that does young eagles flights.

Where do I get one?
Drop in at FTG tomorrow , sat dec 2, and I'll have one for you. In fact, we can make this a YE flight for him, certificate and logbook, too.
