Yesterday, I took what I hope to be my last flight with a 3rd class FAA medical, which expired 30 NOV 17. Soonest I could get into my family doc is 2 weeks so I guess I’ll just look up from down here until then.

You're right ... I've been cheating on the Dakota and flying our F33A Bonanza. :)
If I had known how much fun it was to fly, I would have checked out in it way sooner! :D
I do still fly the Dakota as well, but having 2 choices makes scheduling more flexible.
 
I've learned the hard way....I book everything 6 weeks out for the first week in Dec, so I have entire month to get other tests, whatever, if something goes wrong. Translation: FAA or AME get cranky.
 
Just bring along a deadhead instructor in the right seat and fly merrily along. You'll still be flying and they'll gain time in their log.

Just make sure the instructor has a valid medical. Almost got caught on that one doing a BFR once. The instructor was good provided I could still be PIC.
