... for making everything you do a challenge. Bought a new FAR/AIM to help with my IFR studying. Went with the FAA print thinking "hey, why not get it from the source?" The figures in the AIM are blurry to the point of unreadable, or just plain missing information, just like I hear to expect on the IFR written. Exchanged for an ASA version with crytsal clear figures.

They can't even handle the simple crap, and they are in charge of our airspace? Rant over.

You sure that's printed by the FAA? The FAA isn't in the publication printing business. They produce a .pdf document that others print off. Did you order it from the GPO?

It's not... I'm sure it's an LPTA solicitation, and if it wasn't it would cost more. Then you would have people complaining about the price of a printed version of something they can download for free.

Even still, I don't see the FAA soliciting sale of the printed version of the AIM (there is no such thing as a FAA publication called the FAR/AIM). Might the OP reveal how he ordered this document?

This post reminds me of something comedian James Gregory said in regards to people wanting the government to implement a curfew.

"My daddy never needed the mayor's help to make sure my ass was home at eleven thirty."

I have a few books from GPO and they're all clear and readable. I think the OP bought one from a vendor or printed it off the FAA.gov site maybe, so if it's blurry that be his printer.

Not my printer. Got it off Amazon. They have an FAA version and an ASA version. The ASA one is much nicer. Hate pdf or binders for bug smashing size texts. Maybe its not provided by them directly, but anything more closely associated with them always seems to be a disaster. Go with the ASA version if you are buying one.

Skyhorse Publishing is listed as the publisher on Amazon, ASA's version is listed as by: FAA/ASA and published by: ASA

They should probably list the other version as FAA/Skyhorse Publishing, you'd have probably gone with ASA in the first place had they done that.

I just went with the ASA phone app as it is searchable and portable and not a huge fan of paper.

Like I said, I have quite a few as I'm a CFI and use them for reference, and they are from the GPO. Well put together and usually cheaper than ASA and commercial ones.

Scarier version? Some people want the gov't to be in charge of your healthcare.

And if you want to see how well that works come visit an indian reservation.

Some people want the government in charge of everything. Eventually it will be.

Thread drift over.

That damn FAA can’t get a damn thing right. That’s why we have the worst and most dangerous aviation system in the world.

Eh? The FAA has never produced a document called the FAR/AIM. The GPO doesn't even print single AIMs anymore. It comes as a part of a two-year subscription for $171.

As pointed out, AMAZON lied to you. The FAA may have been the author, but they didn't print tha abmonination.

Really? What is your frequent flyer mileage balance on Aeroflot?
o_O

My post was a very sarcastic reply to this drivel:

I guess I should have added a :D or a ;) or whatever so you’d understand.

I haven't been near a printed FAR or AIM in years since the FAA made them easy to download as PDF. Even prior to that I used the old Summitt Aviation CDROMs
