Matt Lauer Busted

And here's Kathie Lee Gifford's comment:

But it's Kathie Lee Gifford's comments that are drawing fire from both men and women on Twitter. Gifford, who is always quite open about her Christian faith, commented that she had been praying for Lauer. But it was what came next that has everyone in an uproar:

“I’m grappling with, should I even share something? But I guess I really should. I don’t feel that Matt has betrayed us in any way at all but when I found out that my husband had betrayed me, you question your own judgment. You say, ‘Was everything a lie?’ And I think we have to very much fight against that, that the man we know and adored was the man we loved and adored and continue to. I texted him this morning and said ‘I adore you and no person is perfect in this world.' Nobody is. We've all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, is what scripture says. And what we need now is forgiveness and mercy for one another. And we don't need taunts and we don't need ugliness. We have enough of that in the world.”

Disagree. I will grant that if a woman is wearing what everyone else is, she can be forgiven for being surprised for getting targeted but if she is dressing more provocatively than the cultural norm (albeit a moving target) then I hold her responsible, in part, for inviting male attention.

Provocative is in the eye of the beholder, and is still no excuse for sexual harassment of any kind. If you don't like what the lady's wearing look the other way. We live in a free country, and that freedom includes what a woman decides to wear. If you really don't want to see that kind of thing move to Iran.

Also I do not think women are treated the same as men. I'm talking about beliefs not actual reality.

Correction: actually I'm talking about assertions. The false assertion that the genders are created and treated equally, if that's what you mean.

Do you think a woman can make as good an executive as a man? As good a scientist? As good a doctor?

Women have moved en masse into all these fields, and yet their treatment is only slightly north of deplorable. The surprising one was in science, where female scientists are routinely given poorer lab space, fewer resources and less promotion. That was truly an eye opener, since scientists are highly educated and supposedly immune to this sort of thing. Not only is that not true, but I've read that upwards of one in five female scientists have been sexually harassed on the job by their male colleagues. Makes me sick.

Like I said, if you really think women are treated the same way as men you need to get out more.

And that's the same logic that allowed pedophile priests to abuse over and over again. Sorry Kathie Lee, but he may be good looking, but he is still seriously f'd in the head.

Who would have thought, a bunch of douche bags in academia, have you tried to do anything about it? Seems like a mentorship or something could help at least one lady, that's how things start to get better.

Easy on the white-knighting there fella. I love it, a man telling a woman that she doesn’t understand the plight of women. How condescending is that?

And it's perplexing the way society today insists women are so powerful, equal to and better than men, so good we can handle combat just like the men, but at the same time we are apparently so weak we're incapable of fending off sexual come ons without suffering psychological damage. Nuts.
They are being caught in their own twisted narrative but few are discerning enough to see it for what it is. It’s a very good point that almost no one is making. Will you share your thoughts on why you think they are refuting their own case?

Does the inverse hold true? If you do like the lady is wearing, then look at her harder"?

Seriously, I agree that nothing that a woman wears (or doesn't wear) give a man the right to assault her. On the other hand, if she dresses to attract attention, then she should expect attention.

My sister used to put it this way when a man paid too much attention to her, and then got offended when she rejected him;

When you go fishing, do you use bait? Does that mean you have to keep every dogfish you catch with that bait, or that you shouldn't use bait, or do you throw the undesirable catch back?
Consider yourself thrown back, dogfish.

I'm no expert on legal matters, but it seems like she is risking a suit for breach of contract.

So how far do you think a suit for repayment from Weinstein would get in the courts ?

That reminds me of Arianny Grande (or whatever her name is) chastising everyone saying she is not a piece of meat. Meanwhile she continues to dance and sing up on-stage in what would hardly pass for underwear.

Nope - check post #75, that's someone else's post. Not sure how my name ended up on it.

Weird. Had both your and palmpilots username in the quote box.

.

We had a young blonde FO, gorgeous young woman, who wore her uniform let's say snug to enhance her features. When she was off she'd walked into the crew lounge in civilian clothes, tight tight tight skirt that ended about mid thigh and snug blouse, sometimes in heels. Well she tired of all the male pilots staring at her when she walked in and went to the Chief Pilot to complain. Chief Pilot listened, then told her. "look at how you're dressed. what do you expect". And more additional comments. Oh, the Chief Pilot was a female. Perfect!

BTW she didn't last long before she moved on. Went somewhere, maybe UPS, and we heard she tried her shet there and they got rid of her fast.

And here's Kathie Lee Gifford's comment:

.

A simple 'he was always a gentleman in his interactions with me and I feel bad for his family' would have been enough.

Interesting. I’ve got mixed thoughts on this, but im curious what others think of it. There’s obviously backlash but I’m not sure what the reasoning behind the backlash is?

Women, men, kids, anybody, needs to be aware of their surroundings, use situational awareness, and not put themselves into positions of risk outside whatever risk they are willing to take. There are evil people and predators in this world. When they attack, it's their fault, not the victim's. Unfortunately, any suggestion that the victim could have done something different to mitigate the risk (like not walking home, alone, at night, or not going into some newsreader's hotel room when the guy has a reputation for walking around nekkid) is taken as "victim blaming" and perpetuating rape culture.

She's basically comparing her hubby, Frank, and his affairs to the women who were sexually harassed. Not even the same.

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing.

Hmmm. That’s not what I’m getting from it. It seems like the comparison would be Frank->Matt.

I think if any offense should be taken, it’s that she seems to be speaking for the victims. That’s probably not her place right now.

I believe that when a woman takes offense, they have a duty to make it known.

Yeah, be use the ability to read is gender neutral, with some exceptions of course.:D

:dunno:Well, I can read. But I can only understand that which makes sense.

Only kidding, I know it was a typo.;)

Matt Lauer should just claim to be a lesbian...
So he’s really a woman who was just joking around with the other girls and got misunderstood. You might be on to something there!

Yeah, be use the ability to read is gender neutral, with some exceptions of course.:D

But to the larger point that there is this nefarious oppression of women and we all just refuse to acknowledge it, I think is BS. Sure, there is some of it going on, but there are also men being passed over because they are men. Many of those stats are skewed because women choose to leave the workforce before men. Women want to have children, men don’t as much. If the women’s choices are ignored, the stats are meaningless.

And to the other point about what women wear. You are directing your anger at the wrong person. Rushie is simply pointing to reality. She isnt saying women deserve to be assaulted or that society just can’t handle mini-skirts. She saying that if you make yourself a target, don’t be surprised when you’re targeted. It’s pretty simple. It’s unbelievable to me that lefties continue to purposefully miss the point.

I should not have shown you guys this. Should I? Was this wrong? I mean, it seemed like we were all talking and having a good time.

I have no clue, but if such contracts are not enforceable, that would seem to make them meaningless.

By the way, don't you mean repayment to Weinstein?

Sometimes I get the feeling that there are people who just can't stand the fact that not everyone agrees with them.

You sue for something. In this case he would sue for an order instructing the victim to repay him.

The only reason an attorney would take this to court would be if he gets paid by the hour.
