Fondled by TSA?

my wife has screws in her hand from a bad break a few years ago... Her TSA experiences always include a cavity search... I just put my shoes back on, take a seat, and watch the show...

How in the hell do screws in her hand lead to a cavity search?

Through the application of hyperbole.

The screws will set off the walk-through metal detectors (WTMD) requiring a pat-down. Passengers with implants which set off the WTMD are encouraged to request the ATD scanner for screening instead of the WTMD. The ATD is less likely to alarm on the implants as it is looking for items concealed on the person's body or in their clothes. The ATD does require that everything be removed from pockets, and apparently hair, including belts and shoes so you lose many of the benefits of PreCheck screening.

I have PreCheck but apparently got selected for 'random' screening through the ATD when the metal detector flagged, I think they called it USP, anyway they didn't make me take off my shoes or belt, and I already empty my pockets, but I'm guessing that my shoes are why the scanner(ATD) flagged my ankle to be checked.
