And then I was on the news...

Your life is way more interesting than mine.

BTW, have anyone here ever been hit by a Christmas laser while piloting an aircraft?

LOL. There’s a Chinese mixed blessing and curse that I hear roughly translated means...

“May you live in interesting times.”

I’d take NOT getting phone calls to talk to the press ANY day of the week over getting calls from someone asking me if I’d go stand in front of a camera and talk.

And I’ll definitely say this, that reporter does a nice job of editing. That interview from my side of the lens was an utter disaster.

A little writing, a little clipping, and my wife says it didn’t come across too bad.

When it hit the news I immediately got a text from my aunt... oh crap... someone in the family saw it... hahaha.

She’ll show it to mom, and mom will be proud I was wearing the nice leather jacket she got me as a Christmas present a few years ago, I’m sure. Because I usually wear my Carhartt jacket. And it’s dirty all the time. Hahaha.

Life is good. TV interviews can go waaaaay sideways quick. Glad this one didn’t.

so you were that guy......standing in front of the trailer in a muscle shirt....and no teeth. o_O

Funny, but last year, a co-worker of mine (he and I both police detectives) told me a story about this...his adult son, who is also a police officer, lives on the approach path for Detroit Metro. His son set up his Christmas laser display. The next day, his son gets a knock on the door: his laser display was pointed too high, and had flashed a couple of commercial airlines on approach. He lowered the angle and all is fine now.

Anyone remember those days when your local DeeJay decided to try their hand at television, and that perfect vision you had of them in your mind all those years was shattered? :p

It's hilarious what we envision people to look like when we only know their "online persona". I thought Nate was 6'5" ish and 180 lbs, geeky IT-type dude.

I met a guy from another forum (bulletin board actually back then) after years of chatting online with one another who could not stop laughing when he finally met me in person. It took him a few minutes to compose himself and actually carry on a conversation. He pictured me as a huge Samoan dude over the years.

Huh...I was expecting a 'long' interview...:)

Looking good Nate!

Nice lip rug. Used to have one but one of my lady friends said I looked better without it.

No, I refuse to post a before/after photo.

Cheers

Any research or studies out there about these Christmas light displays vs. other lasers at the distances we're talking? I had assumed they were much less powerful, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, this is how I envisioned Nate:
