motor home would not connect to the battery pack.
found this, it's the main fuse between the battery pack and the inverter/battery charger.

Dissimilar metals Tom? Looks like copper and some type of metal making contact.

It used to be a fuse, it never blew, just got really hot and melted the plastic body, I have no reason why it didn't blow.
yesterday I walked by it and thought I smelled something, but GAFed it off, today nothing in the couch would work off the battery pack.
My theory, (but no proof of it) It had a loose connection, simply got way hot. couch was plugged into the 50 amp service at the house and is on automatic charge mode in the inverter.
This gives "melt down" all new meaning . :)

I want a powered couch. I’d never have to lift a finger. Talk about a lazy boy...

So, what’s a powered couch?

It's a nit picker who can't cope with spell checker.

Arcing generally heats up enough to not blow the fusible link. I've seen some other very spectacular failures where components have fried to protect the fuse.

When I checked the fuse for continuity it showed good, but the high resistance would only allow 5 volts across the link.
That's not enough to run anything in the coach.

You are right. I need to show some compassion for the ignorant racists of the world. What was I thinking?
Some racists are ignorant.
but some malinials are wound way to tight.
I really don't know how I'll continue to exist knowing you don't like me.

I'll not complain about aircraft parts mark up again, Newmar wanted over 130 bucks for the OEM replacement part. I bought the same thing from Amazon for 8.00.
Newmar says delivery after the new year. Amazon say 5 days.
Wonderful thing not dealing with the FAA.

Actually the higher the resistance, the MORE voltage you expect. If it had zero resistance, there would be 0 volts.

I believe you have that backwards, the more resistance the more heat at the same voltage. but- what ever,, it smoked. still had continuity. battery monitor said "battery fault. 5 volts, connect charger".
How do you explain a resistor type voltage drop. the type we used to drop 12 to 6 so we could use old radios in our old cars.

Totally open is the highest, resistance we can have. Dead short or proper connection is the lowest resistance we can have.
