Can the FAA just stop by?

Isn't that done in a different context than when they do a audit on an A&P-IA.

Mostly it's an operations inspector, but I've had maintenance inspectors as well who check the maintenance "can" for discrepancies. That's after they do a "preflight" and usually find something minor, delaying the flight as we'd have to call maintenance control and sometimes send pics for them to look over. Most of 'em are just bumming a free ride and go thru the "official" motions I think. :D

You got to go to the left handed scissor store to get those:

Also known as the Leftorium...

They do more visits after the famous Northwest airlines overfly from the pilots "playing"

Tom, did you figure out why the FAA wanted to stop by?
Don't worry Paul, it simply was a question about the legally of it.
the FAA doesn't have the money to allow their ASIs to drive around and visit anymore.
But if my new PMI wanted to see what I'm doing he is certainly welcome to drop by.

Glad to see you back on here again, after your hiatus Tom! How was the RV trip?

All in all fun trip as usual, hit a bear on the way north on the caesar highway. blew a injector line 50 miles out of Valdez, but that is just a machine malfunctions, ( all repaired now) got to see great long time friends and do some fabulous flying.

When ya got the best why change?
My PMI isn't going to drive from Renton Wa to Oak Harbor for a cup of coffee. No matter how good it is.

A chap on the airpark had his PMI on site for the issuance of the certificate of airworthiness on a new RV-12. He took her into my buddies hangar without permission or prior warning to check out his airplane. ( he's also an A&P ) My pal was pretty PO'd:mad:
