Local breast cancer fund raiser.......

I wish you the best. I have a woman friend who is a ten year survivor and is doing well.

I really wish they'd stop calling fund raisers stuff that is obviously intended to have the reaction you did. In my opinion, it doesn't help the cause - just makes a mockery of it. Lost someone to breast cancer and just can't find it in me to find humor in it.

Same here. Mscard should not be the first thing I think about when I see their marketing material. In full disclosure the local hospital was named after a guy named bob hence the x over one of the o’s but it’s still in very poor taste.

My sister died of breast cancer and my best girl friend died of breast cancer and my sister in law got a double mastectomy and now my favorite cousin has been diagnosed stage 4, but that does not offend me at all. I don't get it. Why am I supposed to be offended? Is it because they said "boob"? Here someone is going to the effort to raise money for the cause and I'm going to judge them for saying "boob"? I don't get it.

I didn’t get offended either. I can understand how someone could. Two different perspectives.

I lost my mother to it when I was 7 and I'm also not offended... but to be fair I never really get offended by anything. At this point in my life I have just learned to accept that some people find some things offensive and that I'll never get it but I can at least try to be nice and censor myself around those people or those I don't know well enough yet.

Will never cease to be curious and try to wrap my head around it as a concept though.

Who said anything about being offended? Just don't find that kind of marketing particularly humorous or useful. No reason to get upset over my view on it. There's a difference between being offended by something and finding something lame and ineffective to a cause.

Well excuse me. Who said I was upset?

Bottom line, it's for a good cause.

I always supported breast cancer awareness from work to sports. My wife was an X-ray Tech and performed screenings for years. I always volunteered on my off days to go in with her and help, but she insisted I stay at home and get the laundry done. Never, ahem, understood why I couldn't help.
