Snorting his way across the USA
I created an author page on Facebook about a year ago. Maybe longer than that. For some reason, I have been getting a lot of 'likes' by people I have no connection to, and that aren't even close to my marketing demographic. Most are from India.

Not just that, but most of them are young, male, of questionable heterosexuality, and have timelines populated by repeat posts and semi-English babble. In fact, the last three or four (different individuals) looked like they could possibly even be the same dude.

What I am suspecting here is that someone, possibly Facebook itself, is using automatically generated 'like bot' accounts to 'like' pages. Why? I don't know. Maybe to legitimized paid promotions? Facebook also routinely sends me messages suggesting I do paid boosted posts. (I've tried it a couple times when in a drunken stupor.)

Anybody have any idea what might be happening? I've sold nothing in India.

Dunno what’s happening but maybe upgrade the ethanol interlock. I’ve heard the ladyboys can smell a sugar daddy from half a world away...

Remember those times you stopped at Burger World in your biking outfit, tight shorts and all, and made a fuss over what you ordered? Uh huh that's right, he was there scoping you out. :D

I'm astonished. Farcebook has members spamming, marketing, and pseudo friending?

What's next?

Might be your publisher if you have one.

I created a page for a non-profit and haven’t had those issues. Also, my GF’s business page doesn’t have that problem either. It must be an author thing.

I get some strange likes on my Midlife Flight Page. Since it’s about fligh training, the demographic is pretty wide but when I get someone from a foreign country whose own page is in the foreign language, I begin to wonder a bit. Not particularly concerned though.

Hey, this could be a new plot for your next book...

I'm actually starting a new series. Not because I've worn out the present one, but the next one will be an attempt at securing an agent for a traditional publishing house.
