What should the April 26-29 - M34 (Kentucky Dam airfield) fly-in be called?

Lord of the Flies fly in
Ship of Fools fly in
You can trust me Fly in
At least its not in Texas fly in
No camera's allowed fly in
What happens in a POA fly in..

TL/DR
fly in should be called The Dam POA fly in
Or maybe the Dam Village People fly in

The bad news for me is I won't be able to do this thing unless it takes place after the first week of May. I do not do long trips VFR unless I don't have to be back Monday, which won't happen to me until May.

Been to Lambert's exactly once. Stopped there on the way to Springfield to pick up some stuff from Grizzly.

It was okay, but seeing folks tossing rolls across the restaurant didn't really seem to justify the price.

Here's the thing, the FBO will call Lamberts, who will send someone to pick you up. No matter how busy they are, and I've been there when there was a line out the door....they'll take you in the back door straight to a table.

The only down side is that the food is good, you overeat, then have to climb back in the plane feeling like you swallowed a lead weight.

Dang. Based on my current schedule, I'm working that weekend. You could have picked the weekend before or the weekend after and everything would have been hunky-dory, but noooooo, you had to pick that one. ;)

However, as long as I can get somebody to cover, I'll take vacation and still be in like Flynn. I think I'm gonna want to make this one.

How do all of you people know what your schedules are like 9 months from now?

They ain't knocked up?

Really though... My eldest brother (retired Navy Officer) has his vacations scheduled and booked a year in advance ALL the time. Drives him nuts when we're going to meet somewhere and he calls me the month before and I say "Oh, I guess I should book those tickets."

I'm off that weekend, however.... According to Skyvector it's 806.7nm one way. Lol

Hey guys, dunno how I missed this but I'd be in for this.

Just a suggestion, 1M9 is just on the other side of the lake and there's a HUGE lodge right next to it. I'm actually somewhat familiar with the area, my in-laws live a short drive from it, never stayed in the lodge but I had their lunch buffet once, wasn't bad. http://parks.ky.gov/parks/resortparks/lake-barkley/

If I can make it I'm in though, you guys finally found something in easy range for us :)

That is Rough River, I have been there and it is a nice strip with walking distance access to the Lodge. Lodge has a decent restaurant available as well.

OK, I have put this on my calendar for the low level slow flying RV. Might make a great weekend trip. Are y'all (have to say it that way if you're goin to KY, State Law) planing for a day trip there and back or is anyone staying overnight? OK, I have bombed this thread enough for the day.

I probably aint doin a 400nm day trip, das fo sho.

I was thinking of just planning it as a Thur-Sunday like gastons, 6y9 so people have a little wiggle room w/ scheduling.

I reread the title and figured that out after I typed it. I also hear there is a decent golf course in the area.

Couple pics of the area. We were over 1M9 where this was taken. I'll try to stop at the actual dam airport on the way back through if time allows

May have to come to this here Dam fly in, especially if tshirts or polos are for sale, suitably decorated of course.

Next April, huh? Just saw next year's work calendar, still waiting for the weekend list. Now I need to find which weekend next April, so I can write it on my calendar at work. It ain't but 278 nm from here, 2 hours plus / minus the wind.

Are there suitable "facilities" for my wife? Or must I bach it for the weekend???
