There was an Apache based there for a while and the owner of the field regularly flew his Twin Commander out of it. That was even before the trees were cleared on the west end. Heck there are Cessna 421's that fly into my one way only 2800' strip!
Oh there is no doubt my plane can do it. And while I have lots of short/grass airports under my belt, I haven't had the need/opportunity to do them in my plane.

I used to fly a Cessna 401 in and out of peach state (GA2) which is 2400 ft with GA pines off both ends...when I was short field twin proficient. :)

I will probably draw the line at Gaston's or greater. Outside of that I'll buy a few beers for a semi-trusty ferry from a nearby airport.

And I may very well fly the 414 into your strip one day.

once again, trying to organize a southeast PoA flyin.

The date: Saturday September 23rd, as suggested by @frank.durham

The options:

The Pik-N-Pig @ BQ1 (no landing fee)

small strip in the middle of absofarkinlutely nowheresville. delicious food on the field, outdoor seating, fun place. bring the kids, they have these bean bag things you try to toss into a hole and also a cow pasture they call a driving range.

The Runway Cafe @KGMU (no landing fee)
taxi right up to the restaurant for a tasty burger. outdoor seating, huge aviation themed playground for lil kids. The Monkey has eaten here, so it's kind of a big deal.

Molly Darcy's at N. Myrtle Beach KCRE (typically $12, waived with fuel)

1.5 miles from KCRE, right smack on the beach. outdoor seating and an incredible view of a shtload of water. CRE is an easy in N out..........go ahead, I made that one easy for you. fly in, eat lunch, walk on the beach, go home.

been gathering a list of somewhat local peeps. I'm sure I missed people, pass on the invite to whoever.

EDITED to include landing fees
I just few into KCRE on Saturday, took the fam to get an ice cream(Rita's Italian Ice actually). Payed $15 ramp fee since I didn't burn enough for a top off. The courtesy car was available so that made up for it.

it's a tight race, even with the recent addition of GMU.

Aight Fellow POAers.. looks like its down to the following...

By the way, the Long Island Airpark fly in is going to be September 30. Y'all stop by if you want. Mine is the house about midfield that's under construction.
unfortunately my flight school doesnt allow grass strip landings....

That seems to be a common albeit silly rule that many flight schools have. Sure you might not want a student landing on a real rough farm field but there are many grass strips that are pretty smooth and could be approved by name.

No fuel available at present, but there may be some in a few weeks. He said not to count on it.
Pretty sure KSOP has fuel, and it's less than 10 NM away.

Is this like 'free beer tomorrow'? I dunno but it's there today.

You know eman, 'southeast' includes other states besides NC! You know, like AL, MS etc. :raspberry:

Actually MS is considered mid south. AL is considered... well ya know.

But you are still welcome to join us.

Or maybe we need to take a poll on that.
