Flight Chops joins the Cessnas to Oshkosh!

That doesn't look like fun. That looks like a pain in the ass. I think I'm all set with mass arrivals.

I overheard a conversation on the bus around OSH, a pilot was talking about how he had to use full deflection of the controls occasionally in their mass arrival. Didn't sound like a fun time to me, especially when you're that close to other planes.

Nate, I think you are correct, this was 2016. The weather certainly threw a wrench in their plans, but there also seemed to be a fair amount of other issues that fed the disarray of the gaggle. Hopefully the lessons learned last year were put to good use this year!

Ditto! I have 0.0 interest in all of that... this year we did an easy 2-ship (RV-8s) on the Ripon arrival Monday morning, but for me, 2 was plenty.

Knowing the folks that run it, I suspect they did. Gil is a member here but not very active.

Great video. Is Dan still doing DC-3 training? I'd love to get some time in one!
Hi, Dave. The airplane is pretty much dedicated to video projects and airshows right now. We've got it all wired up for live streaming with multiple cameras. If you want to come down for a ride along sometime, we can probably make that happen. (Warning: We spend as much time fidgeting with cameras as we do flying.)

I'd love to. Fidget all you want, spending time around a DC-3 isn't a bad thing.

Here's our video of the Flight Chops flight. We streamed it live but lost coverage out over Lake Winnebago.

Do you know what day he took the DC-3 up? I have a video on Friday morning of it on taxi, I wonder if I was filming this same thing?!

It flew on Tuesday (AVweb), Wednesday (Flight Chops), and Friday (SAFE/NAFI).

Nice video, almost as good as being in the cockpit.
