Man, I am really hoping for a great... Er... I was told not to talk about the wea....
I got all my ducks in a row. I really hope this pans out.

Looking forward to meeting a lot of you. Not that I am not looking forward to meeting others, just a few I have already met.
And they were great meetings which at the time I had been looking forward to with great enthusiasm.

Lol I specifically only mentioned one of them ;D

Woohoo...2weeks from today...the first arrivals to 6Y9....can hardly wait!

OK Nate, Father Figure talking here, Put it on your calendar for labor day weekend 2018, then put it on your calendar for January, or when ever your vacation requests start for the year, to put in for the time. Then make sure the Double S, O, B spelled backwards knows you will be gone.

The "double SOB backwards" who I've known for two decades is the poor guy who's home as of today recovering from brain surgery, and I'm covering at the office for. o_O

I'm sure he'll be fine with me coming next year, as there probably won't be any brain surgery going on. :)

(He's doing well by the way, vision is back, and he was very tired when I talked to him tonight. The flight home took all the energy he had. Looks like he'll be able to self-certify in a month or whatever and enjoy his Private Glider rating again too.)

Don't worry. I'll give him appropriate grief later. Right now I'm just super happy for him.

Glad he is doing well, we have had some acquaintances that have been down that road. It is long and tiring. Also amazing how the medical professionals know what is going to happen at every stage of the process. Give him my best. Sounds like he has been a good boss to you over the years. I have always tried to be, and usually achieve that goal. I have always used that term to describe myself to those under my direction to keep things light. Sometimes I get a smile and sometimes a smirk.

We've actually swapped the boss job a couple of times and worked for another place in completely different departments that had to interact. He's always been a DBA/code-head, and I've always been a Sysadmin/Systems Engineering guy.

We've kinda had fun fixing up the place we're at now.

I had originally said it was a three year job to clean up and stabilize and depart, and going on four now. But I get to choose full or part time this year as needed for flight stuff. Nice of them.

Don't know what this time next year brings. I just know they go by too fast now.

So y'all have fun and find some Jeremiah Weed to torture yourselves with for me! Or whatever the drink of choice is in da U P.

Went to get current in the 182 yesterday so we can bring it up, but had a mechanical issue. If the stars align we'll be set for the 182 in time. If the sun and moon align we'll be there for the weekend. Since I "believe" in Science I'm positive that the sun and moon WILL align.

Our contingency is to rent an RV to bring up to practice for OSH next year. If we do, there will be a cabin available.

Will Mike let you borrow the Dakota?

Have you put your order on for the Northern Lights upon our arrival this year? How about a Squatch or two.
Squatches have been ordered for the previous 11 fly ins and they haven't arrived yet. Northern lights always on order...

What is a squatch and is there really a chance to see the northern lights?

Bryan; We arrived on Thursday evening last year and some of the early to arrive were sitting around the camp fire when someone saw something resembling smoke. I used to live in AK and know what the lights look like. At the latitude in Sidnaw they were fairly faint, but confirmed to be the Aurora Borealis. The show lasted for about 20 to 25 minutes. Many there had never seen them before and were pretty awestruck.

We can routinely hear the Squatch hunting in the UP at night. If I remember to bring my Buffalo Trace, the likelihood of a sighting will increase.

tiss true but will you be back, if so I will ask for a fog free Saturday morning for you, remembering that day vividly, and that you coveted my high back bucket seats.

Yes, remember I flee past 6y9 and let you land first so o could get a feel for it. We were both preflighting the Pipers at KLNL at the same time
