Anyone based here or landed here? I've visited a few times, but never flown there.

Once. Bout 4 years ago. Nice destination. Scenery, close to town. Nice airport. Good chow on the airport if ya don't want to go to town. @Pilawts pictures tell the story well. Go. Read the AF/D about the winds and stuff.

I was there in the spring. Gorgeous country. Really cool landing there. It gets busy so keep your eyes open for other planes and helicopters. Don't get low on the approach. Really good restaurant right on the field. Coming in on 21 you fly right over one of the "energy vortex's" if that helps.

Stayed at the motel,at the airport, great views and a good restaurant on field for plane watching.

Its such a beautiful area!

Highly recommended! It's a magical flight, for sure. Stay at 6500' MSL or above; terrain rises to the north so you get pretty close to the rock formations at the minimum altitude.

Mrs. P and I had breakfast at Sedona this morning ... absolutely perfect weather, and being a weekday, traffic was light.

We parked next to a gorgeous RV-10. The cowl and prop suggested some sort of big engine inside, but the most curious thing about it was the registration -- "ZU-IHF".

A little Googleage when we got home revealed that the RV-10 belongs to a couple from South Africa who have been on a westbound round-the-world trip since May 27. There's a photo of it online taken in Malta on June 24. Follow 'em on Facebook, FOSTERS RTW.

Wonderful destination! So much to do and see, if you're going to spend some time. We've had a great time doing jeep tours, Segway tours, hikes and brewery tours! There are a ton of VRBO places. Our friends have this.

There is a nice hiking trail that goes in a loop around the Mesa that the airport sits on.

Holy smokes an RV can make it from Oakland to Hawaii???

My engine used to live there...

They have just landed at Port Alfred, South Africa. They're home.

After New Zealand they made several stops in Australia, then Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Seychelles and Madagascar.

Was just there last week. Couldnt stay too long, but amazing scenery. Great airport, one runway though.
