Who is interested in a fly-in to RDU for BBQ, fried chicken, veggies and such? I'll be happy to put it together, if folks want to show up! It'll be after the first of the month, so anymouse can make it ...

I would love to, but I don't think I can do it anytime in the next couple of months. It would be an all day trip for me in the AA1B. And I just have too many obligations coming up.:(
 
I may be able to work RDU in as a stop on a PHN to MYR weekend run. I'll watch for the when and see what we can do.:fcross:
 
Hmm. I might be in. It's still baseball season here through much of November, but if we don't have a game ...
 
Once a date is set I will need to check my calendar. If free I'm game
 
Tom, it is doable for me as well. Once you get a date firmed up (or semi-softed up) I will be in a better position to commit.

I won't be anywhere near there, but you Carolineans might be interested in the BBQ Festival at Lexington NC next week. This is excerpted from the Mooney list:

Lexington, NC (KEXX) for the B-B-Q Festival
on October 27, 2007.

There will be a shuttle from the airport to the Festival in downtown
Lexington. The cost will be $2.00 per person.

It's a 15-person van, which leaves "every hour on the hour."

I talked to the lady who runs the airport with her husband, and she
suggested that we shoot for the 11:00 AM shuttle run if we want to ride over as a group to avoid any possible 12:00 noon "rush."

Therefore, we should all be "on the ground and tied-down" by 11:00 AM to
catch that shuttle as a group.

For the return trip, you apparently go back to the shuttle drop-off point
over at the Festival, and get transported back to the airport. And, no, I
don't know if the $2.00 is one-way or both ways.

Of course, many of the B-B-Q restuarant vendors will be set up at Festival
selling their famous B-B-Q, which is the reason for going there in the first

Sound like a good variation of the $100 hamburger for those in the neighborhood.

Dang! Those weekends (11/3 and 11/10) are not good for me. We have friends that moved up there this year and could do a whole family trip, but those weekends are already booked.

For those going (and future reference for me), is one of the FBO's distinctly better?
 
Ok, to accommodate Brook and others, I'm setting the date as

NOVEMBER 3

I still have to sweet talk TAC Air into letting us use their conference room, but if folks are going to buy fuel from 'em, they should be willing to cooperate! (I hope) If not we can go to any of the many restaurants nearby. :)

Who will be able to make it? I need a head count.
 
Well Tom thats 2 weeks away and i should be on call but i'll try to get someone to cover for me. I'll let you know and how many might be coming with me later.

Gosh, I'd love to be there. I need to start laying eyes on a few more folks.

But, I need to get this CFI gig done and over with. My goal is to take the ride with a DPE up in Choo Choo by early December. So, for now I'll have to forego any extra activities that don't involve flight training or running drugs. :(

But, I do have this devious plan to assist future students in their flight planning... to involve particular events. :)
 
I have a black tie benefit dinner the night of Nov. 3rd so I won't be able to make it.:mad:

EVERYONE - it's on for November 3d - I have to conference room reserved at TAC Air, so we have a place to eat right there where ya park. I'll order and have the BBQ delivered around 12:30 p.m., so we can get things together and eat around 12:45 - 1pm.

If you're coming and you have NOT said so, PLEASE let me know so I can order enough food! Folks from the red board will be coming, as well, so we should have a good time! :)
 
The way things are looking now it looks really good. I'd say I'm 80% in.

Let me chew on that for a few days. My senior manager is having his wedding supper that night but I don't know the start time yet. If it's 19:00 local time it may be doable. I'll try to find out the start time this week.
