WHAT: The annual PoA/Babes/BaconFest Jambalaya and Chili party.

WHEN: Tuesday evening, as in years past. To accommodate those planning to make #OSHBash, we'll plan to start appetizers around 7:15 and the Jambalaya & chili around 7:30. Even if you stay for their entire event, you'll still (probably) find food left! (Though be warned, we did run out last year!)

PROVIDED: We provide jambalaya (andouille sausage, shrimp, chicken, rice, vegetables, and spice) and chili. (We have the vegetarians well covered, just ask Steingar).

BRING: You provide libations (beer, iced tea, lemonade, water and soda goes with both dishes, wine not as much, though some enjoy it; margarita, sparkling wine goes with everything) French bread, cheese, crackers, bacon, sausage, BACON JERKY, chips, salsa, hummus, guacamole, desert, fruit, veggies or whatever you wish to provide. If you can't bring something, come anyway! We understand how hard it is to schlep stuff around the grounds. If you want to drop something off in the morning, that works too.

Bringing chairs is a good idea, but there will be some around, too.

WHERE: same place as last year, Camp Bacon in Camp Scholler. If Larry succeeds in securing our traditional space, go out the fly mart in the southwest corner, next to the Red Barn Camp Store. Walk a block south on FOREST HOME. You'll see a WiFi station on the northwest corner at Lindbergh. We're the group on the southeast corner. The food will be near the big green 10-person tent.

On the map, I've put a large star at the approximate location of Camp Bacon. We're kitty-corner southeast from that, on the south side on Lindergh between Forest Home and 48th.

COST: free! Yes, there is a hat for donations because some have asked, but they are totally voluntary!

PLEASE RESPOND ON THIS THREAD IF YOU'RE PLANNING TO COME AND IF YOU'LL BE BRINGING ANYTHING SO PEOPLE CAN GAUGE QUANTITIES! Last year we had about 70 people! And there's a big white sturdy tent to provide shelter should a storm happen again!

Grant, odds are I'll miss this this year with the most abject apologies imaginable. Plan is to fly in Wednesday. That said, I am bound by Wx, so a Tuesday advent is not ruled out...
In any event I look forward to seeing you and your wonderful spouse.

As much as I love jambalaya and bacon, I already have a bbq party to hit that night. Maybe I'll catch it next year!

I'm absolutely in, and will bring some of St. Louis' finest suds. I'm also a bit of a cocktailian, but there's no way I can $wing the amount of booze it would take for ~70 people! :) But once I figure out where I'll be camped, anyone is welcome to stop by any ol' time after 8 for an adult libation.

Just to clarify, is that 8AM or 8PM? Look forward to seeing you there!

We'll miss you! I'm pretty sure one of the Int'l Directors of the 99s will be in attendance!

Sadly, I will miss Leslie's Jambalaya and the great company this year. I will probably be up for a couple day trips this year, but won't be staying overnight. (It's nice to have a boss that is letting us fly the Citation up there to let employees experience the event!)

Wow this sounds awesome! Awfully nice of you to send out an open invitation like this, and the menu sounds awesome. My son and I will plan on attending and will bring some suds and maybe a loaf or 2 of french bread.

Grant and Leslie, we look forward to seeing you at OSH! This will be Teresa's first trip, and Birdie's too, so she needs to see the great things that make OSH memorable, and your event is one of them!

We'll drop off a couple of pans of fresh cornbread that morning, since we're staying at a nearby house with access to an oven/kitchen.

We arrive Saturday on the C2O mass arrival and depart sometime the following Saturday.

I will be there with a OSH virgin! We will bring craft beer from around Iowa. Is there any room left in Camp Bacon?

Sorry, but Camp Bacon isn't mine to offer up space in. I'm just glad that I managed to wile my way in there while there was space!. But definitely come by Tuesday!

I am sure hoping to attend - great people and Jambalaya! With beer. What could be better? Due to other demands, I'm 50/50 at best but will sure try! Thank you!

Unfortunately I'll be at Friar Tucks in Fond Du Lac for another event. Maybe next year.

I'll be there with a buddy. If there are any special needs, post something in this space before noon or so on Saturday and we'll grab it when we make the grocery run.

My wife and I will try to make it. Due to recent back surgery (I am lucky that it was just at the right timing that my doc is even letting me travel) I am not supposed to carry anything heavier than a gallon milk jug and I will be unable to haul anything in- really very sorry- I know that makes me sound like a cheapskate. If there is a hat to throw in a few pesos for the jambalaya, be happy to do that, though. Hope to meet some nice people who hopefully like airplanes.

By the way, for those with iOS devices, Camp Bacon IS in Apple Maps. Just ask Siri for directions.

I started a thread for the 2018 version of this get-together. So if you hoped to make 2017 and didn't make it, you have another opportunity! And if you did make it, please join us again!
