Is a chiropractor considered a physician?

In some states it's a yes. In some states it's a no. Congress just said "State licensed physician", so it's ultimately up to the state to make that determination of whether they consider a Chiropractor a state licensed physician.

Amusingly, my AMEs over the years have had a variety of specialties as their main practice. I've had an allergist, an ENT, an opthomologist, a GP, and two that did occupational medicine (one primarily workman's comp type stuff and the other was running an approved drug testing operation as well, which apparently was where the real money was).

I think Dr. Bruce is a gas passer by specialty.
 
The AMEs I've used in the past have been, a proctologist, opthomologist, cardiologist, GP, and a maxilio/facial surgeon.
 
An m.d. Is not to be confused with a chiropractor. The m.ds training is much more intensive including a residency! Easy to research.
 
I newsletter from the Ohio State Chiropractic Board mentioned about chiropractors in Ohio is qualify to sign off exam for Basic Med.

It is the state legislature that determines who is designated as a physician. The boards then enforce that law.
 
It’s just a Basic Med exam, not heart surgery. I wouldn’t care if my Basic Med is signed by an MD, chiropractor, witchdoctor, or a clerk at the DMV’s driver license office.

In fact, I would have preferred the driver’s license office.

I just went basic med because my PCP doesn’t charge me for office visits. My physical and blood work were due anyway. He had no problems with it.
If I ever buy a bigger plane I will go back to 3rd class.

But what does the medical board say? Chiropractic is quack medicine to a lot of us. Why use one? Because they don't check as closely?

My gut instinct is to agree with that statement, but my head tells me it is painting with too broad a brush. I was recently referred to a chiropractor by my PCP for neck exercises. From my first impression, the guy knows his limitations, which to me is the main difference between an honest chiropractor and a quack.
 
The internet says CA has a Medical Board that licenses and regulates physicians and a Board of Chiropractic Examiners that licenses And regulates chiropractors.

My guess is chiropractors in CA don’t qualify for BasicMed.
 
In Florida Chiropractors, are licensed under "Chiropractic Physician". That means they are State- Licensed PHYSICIANS!
I love My Florida!!!!

That's my impression, but I don't remember where I got that. I do remember searching online for CDL exams, and all the listings I found in my area appeared to be chiropractors.

That seems like a terribly public place to conduct the exam. I'd think that by question 9 on the Basicmed medical exam form, some of the Skyways passengers would be getting upset at what they're seeing.
